Billericay 5 Tooting 1

What an enjoyable evening especially after Saturday's great win also. But why am I the first to report on the game?

First off Tooting had come off the back of a great win against Lowestoft and were clearly no mugs, indeed in the first half their attacking and speed was excellent and we were a bit flattered going in 3 nil up although our play was great also.

Two real positives for me - firstly the attitude of ther players was absolutely fantastic, working for each other and tackling very well ( a bit too much for the ref who gave some very soft bookings imo)

And secondly our strike force of Jay and David is really beginning to gel now, 8 goals each I think this season. Jay May in particular is getting stronger every game and David Knights work rate is awesome.

Another goal for Swaine who also has 8 for ther season. And a word for the keeper Reece who looked very competent indeed.

Top of the league now but more importantly scoring goals and giving us loads of entertainment at New Lodge - a big thanks to all the players, management and Chairman for getting this all working.

Someone has to be first Richards. I agree with all the above. 2 cracking games, 12 goals, beating the scum and going top of the league. Absolutely fantastic.

Tooting look to be the Arsenal of the Ryman Premier, great on the ball and going forward but defensively frail.

Roll on Saturday when Real Madrid oops St.Neots roll into town.

And for completeness, May scored the first early on and Luke got a spectacular second in the 7th. minute. Swaine headed in the third from Hawes free kick just before half time. Tooting pulled one back with a free kick which bypassed everybody. Knight scored from a great cross by May and Wild got a touch to a probable goal bound shot by Knight.

Yeah...I got told that Wildy would beat Knight up for the goal so announce it to Chris Wild...he, he, he....

A great performance, a entertaining game and we're top...one game in hand, 2 points clear with a plus 20 goal difference....

....makes the past four seasons waiting almost worth it.

Now all we need to ask is the season be suspended and we can claim promotion...

Another excellent result for us with lots of goals and we end up back on top of the table.

Tooting kept possession well in the first half and played some crisp passing football but in fairness most of the good stuff they did was in the middle third of the pitch. They were much less good in the other (more important?) two thirds I felt. I did think that their number three looked a very useful player though.

But moving onto us, I thought our front two were unbelievably good last night - Not only are they both working really hard and back finding the net, but they seem to have formed a good partnership. Well done to them. Our back line has been disrupted a bit lately but we were good enough last night. I was pleased to see Radley back on the bench - I'd always prefer to see a young player who has come through the system there than some journeyman who has already ditched us once.

Hopefully we can keep going, it's great being a Blues fan at the moment.

Well done lads!

Top of the League and just 5 posts?, and one of those from a wannabe Blue.

It’s been a fantastic effort from the lads over the past few months, team spirit is there for all to see, so much so that its often difficult to choose an individual as man of the match.

Our support is rising and I was really pleased to see the teenagers out in force last night, keep it up lads

I did notice that one player didn't celebrate the win with the others at the end of the game, which was a shame I thought, because a 5-1 win, and a move to the top of the league should be enough to put all selfish thoughts to the back of the mind, for a short time at least.

There is still a mighty long way to go though, but for now at least, we are top of the League!

We're Top Of The League!! (Again!!)

:alc:

Thoroughly enjoyable win last night. Even with the 5-1 scoreline Tooting made a game of it and gave us plenty to think about at times. Sends a message out to the League favourites too. Or are they ex favourites? I haven't checked the betting for a while.

Reece Ottley looked pretty safe in goal. Jay & Knighty in cracking form. Blue army signing on a Tuesday night! All's well with the world (just don't read the papers, and cash in any Euro's)

Having seen Lewes on Saturday not too sure why they are that short but maybe they had a really bad day, their home form is usually good

As for Bury at 16's,think their fans will lump on their side at those odds in what could be a very tight league

I agree with all of the above an in particular to JL's point about Journeymen.

I was a proud blue fan when i saw the smiles back on some of the older football fan's face's last night and the lad's to the right of us singing the blues.

Not sure what the attendance was last night but it seemed like a lot for a Tuesday night. We even have long queues back at the burger bar, all credit to the girls for turning it around and getting people back buying.

Well done all.
