With all the things you can read at the moment regarding our proposed development of Hartsdown Park maybe its an idea to put some links for fans and maybe opponents who come on here, to show people that we are not taking over the whole of Harsdown Park that some seem to think we are!

I am also going to put the same links on the Facebook page of "Save Hartsdown Park as they appear to be many on there completely unaware of what exactly is happening. Im sure there are some on here too that might still be a bit mixed up as to whats been proposed, so I hope the links I have taken off the OFFICIAL web site will help us fans on this UNOFFICIAL fans forum.

Please remember if you haven't already done so to write in or EMail the council expressing your support for this development.

Every little helps!!

Obviously it is right and proper that the club's supporters show their backing for this development, and I have sent an email. However, I am a bit confused as to what this consultation is for. We received planning permission (which will remain whatever happens here) and that process involved a public consultation on the development itself. The council's officers supported the plans, their comments in the agenda report dismissing the opposition, and it was voted through by the council committee. So is this consultation about the leases rather than the arguments for and against the development itself?

Absolutely right CE. The news item on the official website should explain all: http://www.margate-fc.com/content/Club/Stadium/development.php?subaction=showfull&id=1318831479&archive=&start_from=&ucat=24&

This is why CE I have put these links up both on here and the Facebook page where in particular they seem not to mind the hotel build but are more concerned about the land the 3G pitch will take up in Hartsdown Park, grossly exaggerated by the anti development brigade I must say.

Yes, but, if the consultation is about the leases rather than the development, those views won't matter.

This is the final hurdle for the club to overcome and we are asking every Thanet resident, particularly those who have benefited from the clubs extensive community work, and club supporters who live in Thanet to write to, Consultation, Thanet District Council, PO Box 9, Cecil Street, Margate, Kent, CT9 1XZ or email consultation@thanet.gov.uk setting out why you are in favour or against our new stadium

Keep them coming.

The future benefits to all the community of Thanet both directly and indirectly are enormous as can be seen by reading the Approved Planning Permission with foresight and looking at the current projects that MFC host and run with the fantastic support of others I believe.

We have had years of delay on projects such as the Dreamland revival which are not all down to the much maligned Thanet District Council and this is a golden opportunity to have an asset for our area at no cost I believe to the taxpayer.Just try and value the free publicity for Thanet and the extra money spent in Margate in particular by additional visiting fans and others drawn here to have a look at what has been achieved

This could be held up as the future model for non-league clubs with aspirations to join the football league or any other sport requiring a stadium maybe, more free publicity for the area.

Just my overall thoughts please feel free to use any of this if you agree and are wondering what to write

Good post Dave & just to re-iterate the massive contribution this club has made in the past and can again make in the future in regards to promoting & advertising this town I have included the below link from Jeff Trice's magnificent history site. Thanks for storing these memories Jeff by the way.

He has mentioned this on another thread but I thought it worth including on this thread so that if councillors ARE looking in then I hope they take days like this as an example of how important the football club can be when making up their minds concerning the lease application, which would in turn,if granted, allow this great club with its great name (MARGATE FC) to progress & to see more days like these (below link) come about again in the future.

This was just one such a day when everyone, including non football goers, plus councillors, would have been "proud", indeed were "proud" to have a successful football club at the heart of the town.

Scrolling down on the link below will show just how much publicity this club can muster on a good day.

Getting really fed up having to counter the lies that the nursery school owner is telling the parents of kids who attend there. At least 4 people I call on have been told by parents incorrectly that the club is cementing over Tivoli Park, the pathway between the two parks will be lost, and that 80% of Hartsdown Park will be built on. The owner of said nursery still has not got the guts to repeat his facebook comments in front of the local press as I requested as a fan of Margate FC........by whilst he continues saying what he does I will keep telling people why my 2 1/2 year old son will NEVER go to Manor House Nursery.

Maybe the club should put their side of the story to the press (even though the press probably already know).

A large article about the consultation was in the local (as is required re: guidelines on consultation I believe) so maybe the club should have the truth put into print too to show those that are being deceived the real truth before too many other ill-informed members of the public jump on the bandwagon & air their anti views on the strength of false details & facts.
