Billericay 4 - Canvey 2.

Recommended Posts

The 601 spectators enjoyed an exciting contest this afternoon with Billericay putting on their best home display since the thrashing of Kingstonian on 1st.September. Hopefully some will come now on a more regular basis.

There was drama before kick off with Nicky Morgan hospitalised on Thursday night after been beaten up at a stag do he was attending. An emergency replacement goal keeper was signed but he injured himself in the pre match warm up! Young Jack Avery was called upon to make his league debut.

Jay May headed us into an early lead but Canvey started to control the mid field and scored an equaliser which lead to us going in at half time all square.

Jay smashed in a volley to give us back the lead and our game improved in mid field as we now controlled the game so it was a shock when Canvey again equalised due to a combination of poor defending and Jack's lack of height. We again stepped up our game with Dave Knight missing a chance when put through only to restore our lead 30 seconds later! Finally Rob Swaine headed in the forth to complete a great second half display and send the Billericay faithful home happy.

We stay in second place as Hornchurch thrashed Lewes 4-0 but defeats for Bury, Lowestoft & Cray greatly strengthened over position at the top.

Roll on Tuesday.

An entertaining game and a thoroughly deserved victory. Hard to pick out a MOTM as the whole team worked hard, but Wild and Swaine were immense. Jack Avery was well protected apart from Canvey's second equaliser.

Just a comment on last week - we now know that many of the team had suffered from a virus, so it explains the off key performance and makes the win even more commendable - well done.

Sitting with a large glass of wine enjoying the victory !!!! A very good win and with such a strong bench, Junior and Richard Halle brought on at the end ,the season is getting exciting.

A great set of results elsewhere puts us in pole position. Lets take advantage of all these home games to consolidate our position.

I would like to make a special mention for Jay May who apart from his goals worked very hard and held the ball up well.

Great result. Well done to all, including the Blue Army who were as vocal as I've heard them for a long time, if not a little X-rated. Nicky Morgan has been immense this season so the joy of this victory is tempered by the news OTSL relays above. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

Good to see Junior back on the pitch.

A fantastic result for us today with what's fair to say was not an ideal preparation.

I thought the first half was fairly even but we we well on top for the second half and were definitely worth the three points. I was amazed they didn't bring on Mooro as we were ruining them at set pieces and I was really surprised how unfit Hallett (a player I have alway rated quite highly) looked.

I thought Hawes had a good game at left back, the midfield worked hard (including H, who had a good game) and Jay May had his best game for ages up front. A real good effort all round and a deserved win.

Nick Morgan - Get well soon.

Superb result, gutted i couldnt be there today. Very saddened to hear of Morgans situation, does anyone have any more news? Get well soon to him.

Well done today lads, 1 point off top spot with games in hand is a great spot to be in, lets hope we can keep the run of form going on Tues.

Local derby which after a tight first half we controlled well in the second half. Presume Jack Avery was probably nervous but he didn't do anything wrong, praise to him. The rest of the team did there job perfectly well to overcome a good Canvey team. We had H attacking and this gave us more creatitivity, but with hindsight and the problem of the virus I like BP was unfair to the players last week. Well done to all, even the boys behind the goal for their singing which has not be around for a while.

Great result and performance, bearing in mind the eleventh hour changes.

First half was about even but I thought we got stronger and stronger as the second half wore on. I too was surprised they didn't change anything at the back as we looked like scoring from every set piece.

Another three points Tuesday would be lovely.

Get well soon Nick Morgan.

Drama from before kick-off right until the final whistle. What a game for Avery to make his league debut! No chance with either goal and other than a save at the end, he was largely untroubled. I thought Hawes had his best game so far and Jay May deserved both his goals (2nd was definately a volley) on work rate alone. Can't remember a season when we've suffered such serious injuries in such a short space of time. So to be where we are speaks volumes for both the manager and players. Keep it going!

PS Gamo whats the score, gamo, gamo whats the score....!
