Bedfont sports v Guernsey

Recommended Posts

I watched the Bedfont/Guernsey match today. Bedfont threw everything they had at the visitors but the result was absolutely the correct one including the Bedfont goal which was definitely well deserved. If Bedfont could have played the whole match like that, the result might have been different.

I thought the name calling and general bad mouthing of the officials and the visiting team by a small number of home supporters was a disgrace to the club and the league but I have to admit I don't know what is considered acceptable at this level

It was sad to see the ref being constantly argued with. In spite of being one of the poorest I've seen at this level I think his bad decisions probably cancelled out.

I was in the middle of all the Guernsey fans and our supporters said nothing out of turn. This was a top of the league clash it was bound to get a bit feisty !

There may have been the odd swear word by our fans, but there were plenty of swear words right in the refs face by some Bedfont players and they were rightly cautioned.

At the end of the day this is a football match and we were there to support our team passionately. The problem was the ref was so bad he didn't help the situation and at times he got abuse from both sets of fans and the Bedfont players.

I met Newby before and after the game for a good chat, he's a really nice bloke, we bought each other a beer.

One word for guernsey today class.

to be far to bedfont they didn't turn up today but Guernsey played some good stuff.

good to meet the Guernsey donkey nice bloke.

GD id a quality bloke to follow his team at that sort of expense... how many would do that... lets get off his case as he is living his dream...................

Thanks Weeble it was great to meet you the other day and you are a top bloke too.

It is expensive to travel but I'm passionate about the team and love visiting new teams, chatting to fans, having a few beers and chatting fellow forumites.

To find the money to travel I give up doing other things, which I guess takes some commitment

I don't see how your player was sent off for diving, as the keeper took the kick and then the ref whistled to stop the game before giving out a second booking. Must have been something he said surely?

No he was booked for diving ! Crazy decision. I had a clear view and the keeper took him out. The keeper was already on a yellow as well !

Surely he can appeal. He has video evidence!!!

The only appeal permitted for a caution is for Mistaken Identity (and the other player has to 'fess up). Even if it results in a dismissal due to it being the second caution.

In that case, if it were me I would be pretty pi55ed with being classed as a cheat and having to pay £50 for the privilege.

I think it's hard for a ref to determine whether a player has dived or not sometimes. I would never cheat by diving etc but have had many occasions when pens not given and the refs have said I dived, before the new rules came in though as I'm a relic now and struggle to make the box.
