Leighton v Slough

just wanted to say how great it is that we finally have a solid defence that don't hand soft goals galore in the league anymore. just 9 goals conceded in 12 games. a record only equalled by Biggleswade. next best defences have shipped 14.

think its 7 clean sheets in all comps so far. probably the same amount we achieved in the 2 previous seasons combined!!

It was obvious that some sad person would check that........and on this occasion it was me!!

Last season in all competitions = 6 clean sheets of which 4 were in league games.

Season before in all competitions = 11 clean sheets of which 7 were in league game.

Our 7 so far this year have all been in the league and we're not even in November yet. I don't want us to go all defensive, and I don't think we have the players to play that way anyway, but not conceding goals is what wins you titles.

Here's another one for you!

Alex Brown: 5 and a bit matches played (injured at Chertsey). Only 2 goals conceded when on the pitch. And 4 clean sheets!

I thought it was a good solid win, the type we'll need to grind out consistently to do well. I was a bit concerned though about the lack of chances created. If Paul Coyne hadn't scored, the game might have been heading for another North Greenford-esque 0-0. What a goal it was though! But we looked very solid at the back and James Warrington is looking more and more like a great find every week - fully deserving of MoM for the penalty save and for keeping out a couple of other efforts.

Agree with everything you say there Matt.

I too was a bit concerned that we didn't create any chances after Coyne's goal, but this was the sort of game we'd have lost last season so we're obviously made some progress.

I also agree with Warrington as MOM, as he kept us ahead with some excellant saves.
