CCL GAMES TONIGHT

Banstead v South Park 7.30

Epsom v Horley 7.45

Hanworth v RPV 7.30

Epsom v Horley - Horley striker Hough to return to his former club tonight. Will they know his game and how to play him cause many defences so far this season have failed. Is he heading the goal charts thus far ? He must have 15 - 20 league goals already ?

Epsom dealt with hough reasonably well, but we won 2-0.

Goals from kevin lock on his debut and ben heardman.

quite a good game with both sides cancelling each other out 1st half and then 2 goals from horley 2nd half.

According to Redhill Twitter feed, Croydon lost 1-2 at Redhill, with Redhill's goals coming from penalties in the 88th minute and then the 3rd minute of injury time :(

Not our best season for cups - 5 defeats and an abandonment! Time to concentrate on moving up the league!

Thanks Juppy. Well done on another good win. Kev Lock another good signing IMO.

kai francis who was on dual registration with us has returned to casuals as shipps has gone

Redhill v Croydon,in the Surrey Senior Cup,the winners have a lucrative tie at home to Lingfield. With the cost estimated at £400 to put a game on at the Arena,my heart wants us to win,but my head says a loss would be a better outcome.Baffles me why clubs enter the lesser Cups, all loss leaders, nowadays.

Costing money or not Smudgeyboy, the Surrey Senior Cup is not classified as a ''lesser cup''.......it is the top Surrey County Cup !

In comparison to the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase it may appear so but not for Surrey based clubs.

Nice Guy,you must get your head out from where the sun don't shine, the Mickey Mouse Cup lost it's shine when Clubs could field it's youth/ressies.The big Clubs who can attract a crowd adopt this attitude, gone are the days of big crowds at Woking,Kingstonian, when clubs could earn a few pennies. Now clubs reduce their entrance fee to get punters through the gate, and still attract dismal crowds. Now THE NICE GUY CUP has a better appeal!!!!!!

Off to Redhill tonight so might bump in to Smudge

What did you think of the Ref tonight?

Personally I thought he did ok.

Controlled the game well, communicated well with the players and used common sense when he could.

Four big decisions:-

1) Penalty appeal when the Redhill player went down under a challenge on the right handside of the penalty area. Referee wasn't certain and looked to his colleague on the line who shook his head saying no penalty

2) Same Redhill player fouled inside the penalty area and the referee delayed his whistle momentarily to see if the goal would be scored anyway or whether he would need to award the penalty. End result was a penalty

3) Goalkeeper caught by an opponent when the goalkeeper, defender and opponent all jumped for the ball. Goalkeeper sustained a cut to the head but definitely no intent ... attacker had eyes on the ball and headed the ball over the bar.

4) Three minutes in to added on time Redhill player clearly fouled inside the penalty area. Some defenders protested but told by one of their own players that attacker was heading away from goal but was fouled and called the person committing the foul a few choice words. Penalty awarded and after calming the players down the penalty was taken and scored

Hope that you enjoyed your evening

Banstead 1-3 south park

With dodgy playing conditions last night we managed to pick up all 3 pts with all goals in first 20 minutes.

A positive start from park forced an own goal within 2 mins then good play by park and clean strike from c.smith to make 2-0 on 7 mins. After that Banstead doin there feet again and start to press and with the wind on there side forced park into an own goal, but then 5 mins later another great build up and strike from r.every went 3-1 up. Second half not as entertaining as first but managed to hold on all action second half was penalty which was never a pen as Banstead player drived ( Tom daly would have been proud).

Ref had an ok game couple of dodgy decisions for both sides but ok all in all.

Yes I did enjoy my evening,as I always do when going to a match.

1) The ref took a lot of stick from the Redhill bench, for not awarding a Penalty, but as they were further away than I was myself, and the Officials where closer and agreed that the player got the ball before the Player hit the ground, they were right.

2)The Ref was 5 yds from the incident right in front of him,the Assistant further away, the Ref. did not blow immediately, which indicated that he did not think it was a Pen,but the Assistant had his flag up immediately,to say he was playing advantage is a poor shout.A penalty is a penalty surely,or maybe after turning 1 down, then seeing the Assistants flag raised,he blew as that would of blown the Teamwork theory out of the window.and vented more anger from the Redhill bench.

3)Keeper on his line from a set piece, caught by opponent, sustains nasty cut to eye, meaning a long stoppage for treatment.Bet the ref was as shocked as I,Reminded me of the good old days, when keepers got no protection. So who inflicted the injury,as he lay in a heap, under his crossbar?Contact must of been made surely.

4) Stonewall Penalty,no arguments there. In fact from where i was standing they were 3 cast iron Penalties,so as many say, things even themselves up in the end.

Smudge,

To comment on two of your points...

2. I would not say this is an example of Teamwork going out of the window. It sounds like very good teamwork if the right decision has been reached! Typically, the referee will brief his assistants to flag for fouls and then the referee decides whether to play advantage or not, hence the instruction to assistants is "Keep moving after flagging". Now, if it had not been an advantage situation, it is perfectly possible the referee was not in the best position to make the penalty call compared to the Assistant. You mentioned five yards... in my experience, this can actually be too close to make a call on a potential foul, hence 10-15 yards tends to be the optimal distance.

3. Contact does not mean there has been a foul. It isn't uncommon for there to be a clash of heads when two players jump for a 50/50 ball. for example. The typical action in that situation would be to stop play, sort out the injuries, and the restart is a drop ball... in other words, no blame being apportioned.

I remember you got a penalty decision wrong though in the charity fans forum game LOL!!

I'll bite, but say the video evidence on YouTube says otherwise ;-)

In your opinion

It was just after the Peacock tried to pull my shorts off as I stood with my hands in the air!!! :o

So not only does he not see it the second third fourth time that it was never a penalty he refuses to put his hands up, be a man and appologise..... Typical of a ref..... and just when I was starting to like them after the great decisions made by the ref at Loftus road.
