natural finisher past and present???

Recommended Posts

Mark Knight - Cobham (about 5/6 seasons back)

Now playing over in the states.

Hands down one of the best natural finishers and all round strikers I know of and have had the pleasure of playing with.

Brought on In a cup game with the scores tied at 1-1 going into extra time. We won 6:1 aet, he scored 5!

Unbelievable Striker.

Matt Everard got 40 goals in 100 appearances for AFC Wimbledon, according to the stats. Not bad for a central defender who wasn't the penalty taker!

Top man....he scored against AFC when Ash beat them but then when he went to AFC, he kept scoring against us

Yes remember that, only our third ever game and lost a 2-0 lead! Monday morning kick-off. Did he get his fair share of goals at Ash?

he got a few at Ash but not as many as he did for AFC, but then again you did put over some quality crosses for him to head home

Yep Shaun Mitchell and the other guy who played up top with him, short lump with short black hair! A frightening combo all those years ago and use to hate playing against them with the likes of Jason Lay and James Blason supporting from mdfield!!

You could go on forever, Mc D at Warlingham was tasty on his day and very old skool! Coops was also a very good striker, as was a young lad I played with at Feltham a few years back called Stefan Smith-Hiebner who I believe had a spell at Frimley last season. 4-5 years ago he turned down so many offers at this level and even chances at pro level but he liked his 'youth' shall we say and unfortunately landed up in prison for a bit, think he's out now. He had pace, power, skill and everything he hit went it. Shame really, a wasted talent!!

Wattsy / TC

Shaun Mitchell & Scott Joyce, both 40 plus a season with more coming from Jamie Horton & Tony Calvert.. We had another at Ash in Dave Hooker.

Yep, that's it! Amazing combo up top, like JJ said'Magic Mitchell' was invincible at times and you didn't question how theyscored past you at times, you just stopped and almost applauded at their magic!

Dave Willcocks reminded me that we had a fantastic young striker for a few seasons at Farleigh called Martin Dell, never missed a one on one and scored for fun but left us to ply his trade at Carshalton Athletic. Strange actually, we had a guy by the same name and similar in appearance join us a couple of years later but he insisted he was a centre midfielder and now captains the side from Centre Half.

In terms of the present players, Ross Allen has 23 in 14 league games (and 1 in 1 cup game, and 7 in 3 pre-season friendlies, making 31 in 18 in total for the season). If he carries on at that rate, he will have 56 in 34 league games, and no doubt more in total if Guernsey have some cup runs, which isn't too bad a return!

Not sure how close Gary James/any others are running him for the golden boot...does anyone know?

The best 2 strikers I have seen this season is Allen and O'Toole, they are playing in League/Divison well below what they are capable of.

Scott Joyce and Shaun Mitchell at Ash.

Our centre half at Ash back then would score a minimum of 15 goals a season guaranteed with at least 12 of them coming from the spot due to Shaun winning the pens. U just couldnt tackle him in the box. He was called Magic Mitchell.

There was a striker at Ash called 'Fish' who just couldnt break into the 1st team cos of Joycey and Mtchell. He was an absolute fox in the box and top quality. I arrived at Ash as a striker released from Farnboro Town and deputised for Joycey when he got a huge suspension but was soon dropped when he got back. I then dropped into midfield. The rest is history.

The names that stand out in my time in the ccl are: Mark Anderson (Sandhurst), Ian Mancey (Cove), Coops (AFC), Pommers (Chertsey), Shaun Mitchell (Ash), G. Senior (N.Greenford)

Is that the Mark Anderson who went to Fleet and scored goals for them and is now at Badshot Lea ? If so, failing to hit the net this season.

Senior scored goalsfor fun in CCL Premier for NGU but when promoted not so prolific. I state my case in another post that strikers will eventually find their level.

O'Toole,a selfish forward, brings nothing to his Teamates

say it earlier he is a great striker (nothing to do with the fact he is family lol )

Yeah i remember playing a couple of times against Staines and peters scoring, especially the one midweek where

he was just inside his half and hit it on the half volley at ashfords ground, think we only had 2 shots and won 2-1, after

being absoloutly battered
