Town 1 Whitehawk 0

Recommended Posts

The best thing that can be said is that we won and remain in the FA Trophy.

Whitehawk looked the better team for large parts of the game and only their final ball prevented them from scoring. Town had little creativity until Harrison Chatting was brought on at half time and we then had our only good spell for 20 minutes.

The game was drifting towards a deserved replay for Whitehawk, when Courtney White, on as a sub, chased a ball in the box and went down under a challenge. The ref awarded the penalty and Richard Halle scored from the spot. I could be wrong but I think that might have been our first serious shot on target after 80 minutes.

Still the boys worked hard, so well done for not giving up.

Can't help feeling a little sorry for Whitehawk who played well and deserved at least a replay if not more. Still we won and perhaps deserve a bit of luck.

Really sorry to see Greg Oates limping off again with an ankle problem. Hope it is not serious.

Pleased to see Courtney getting a runout. looked useful and much needed in view of Boots longterm injury.

A word of praise for the ref. A bit finicky but spot on with the bookings, was firm and fair and consistent. One of the better ones.

Look forward to a good draw in next round.

Funny old game...I saw it differently. Whereas I didn't think we played well (lack of pace again being the main reason but also we got sucked in trying to match our opponents "lets lump the ball" stratagy when we have shown we have plenty of good players that can play and pass the ball along the ground), I thought Whitehawk were poorer still and only were made to look good because we fell into the age old habit of letting a lower team dominate the style of football played...

...the only "permier" stylings our visitors displayed was the way the liked to break the play up by going down easliy...which was eventually sussed out by the officials in the second half.

Enough of that...we didn't play well. I've all ready mentioned the lack of pace but we appear to have lost that "team performance and spirit" aspect of our game that characterised our pervious victories this season...I hope this is only a "blip". Anyway, not every game can be a classic, hard fought, effort drenched, skill socked, blockbuster of a game...

We're through, we made hard work of it but we didn't slip on what could've been a banana skin....unlike Concord Rangers (ha, ha).

I wasn't at the game yesterday instead watched Norwich get a well deserved point at Anfield. For a moment I thought I had wrongly logged on to the Horsham forum. Did we really win?

Have you all gone down with a bad case of onthesidelinesitis?

Looking at the last 12 games we have won 10 (TEN) drew 1 Lost 1 Scored 26 and conceded 6

Not bad for a poor side, lacking in pace, creativity and team spirit.

Nothing positive to say on the season so far or progressing in the Trophy onthesidelines?

I remember somebody questioning Billy Radley's inclusion having not seen him play two good games whilst he was 'on holiday'

So that's a no in answer to my question onthesidelines? Hardly surprising.

Strange how you saw it as Billy or Harrison when they play on opposite sides of the pitch. Still as you said you were on 'holiday'

I thought we were going to have to talk Nigel into getting the scum bus for a trip down Brighton way on Tuesday.

Thankfully what seemed to be the only clear shot on goal went in the net from the penalty spot.

It was one of those games when only a foul was going to decide the game luckily for us they were seen for what they were it was like Falling Tunbridge Angles all over again. :minipersonen015:

Well done to the lads for sticking with them and great to see so many supporters show up from the Colt's upward. (Did that kid ever manage to actually climb up the fruit machine?

< That made me laugh. :hysterical:

Gazza I find it interesting that your post supports the most negative poster on here and questions my support for the team, yet neglects to answer the points I have raised. I have watched twelve of our sixteen games. I have a relative on Norwich's books and was invited to Anfield and accepted the offer. Perhaps that does make me a 'questionable supporter'

My god, our best start for many a season and we are all here squabbling and trying to kick each other in the shins!!! Does make me smile, I love this game......

This is a forum everyone gets to have their say, negative or positive and if people put up a point of view, be it negative then thats their perogative. I to question the fact Harrison sits on the bench so often but others who stand with me have a different opinion doesn't mean I am wrong, doesnt mean I am right. At the end of the day we all think we are managers, just stand behind the goal on match day and hear us criticise, support and gesticulate over the course of 90 mins, its all part of being a fan up and down the country. We all have a right to our say and if someone wants to be critical on the forum of a managers decision then that is their choice, just be prepared to defend that view. On the other hand why dismiss someones point of view just because they don't hold the same point of view as yourself?

Anyway I must be a very questionable fan as I have missed the past two games, one due to a miserable family wedding and the other due to having to snatch back a car. Both apalling excuses and I would have much preferred to have been at New Lodge disagreeing with my mates and all making out we know more about on pitch success than the other!!
