No not Sea Pigeon,Night Nurse, but the Champions of the F.A. Inter League National Cup.

Guernsey Football League. were beaten by a team from Devon,in the first round last Saturday, they must be bitterly disappointed.Tim Darwin of Jersey Football Federation.puts the loss down to the formation of Guernsey F.C.,which has drastically reduced the Players available for selection for their League sides. On a good note though,Jersey have no immediate plans to follow in Guernsey's footsteps and join the Football pyramid.

Yes they are doing exceptionally well at Step 6,but at what cost to their Local League, now that most of the cream has committed to Guernsey F.C.The standard of their League has obviously dropped dramatically, which in turn means younger Players, will find it hard to improve surely, playing with lesser Players, improves no one.

Spot on, which is why the current Guernsey FC squad needed tougher opponents

Younger players in thier league will now get a look in as before they would play reserve football, GFC has opened up Doors for other players.Fair enough they won't play the cream of the crop but if you have ability you have ability end of. Those who shine through will probably be picked for GFC as they proved with the young lads Alvarez and De La Mare.

GFC have a whole Island to pick from if they wish im sure CCL1 teams would give thier right turnstile to have that dilema eh ! Guernsey are starting or shall i say have been believing all the hype written about them and so they should cause they are a good team in this division but we don't know where thier standard was to begin with !

Too be honest we don't know our standard ! but we are having great fun trying to find out. We don't know how many leagues we can go up, but I would say at least Ryman League

Ryman league is a long way away, don't think we should be looking that far ahead. Especially after today's performance, thought 4 nil was deserved but GFC will need to up their game if they want to play at Ryman league level.

Guernsey played far too much long ball today, Ryan zico-black was sorely missed. Allen may get alot of attention but zico makes us tick. But well played farleigh who made guernsey work for every ball. Their boys must be dead on their feet with the amount of running they did. I don't think I have seen a game of 90 mins where so many players have suffered with cramp, don't know if the farleigh boys are not the fittest or was it just guernsey made them run loads?

Have to agree with vrfc196 that this will perhaps give the youth of Guernsey the opportunity and experience that reserve team or youth just doesn`t give, even if at 1 level less. Long term this can only benefit Guernsey FC's first team. A long term positive rather than a short term negative IMO.

From what I have seen which is 2 games on the mainland (and Zico Black played in both games) Guernsey are a very direct side who get the ball early very quickly and support with some very quick players....not a criticism....merely an observation. And lets face it this is working very well indeed and i`m sure will do at step 5 as well.
