RalphC
Come on Rhodes, I am sure you will agree the MOD is stuffed full of incompetent idiots.
Loose
Here's another one guys. MOD civil servants were paid bonuses this August! Junior lackeys got just under £6k each! At a time when soldiers numbers are being axed and those who are left are expected to fight for their lives with the sub standard equipment the MOD provide this windfall is provided by taxpayers who are facing the biggest recession in a generation! So what did these fat guts incompetents do to deserve this bloated bonus jamboree? Planned to overspend our money by £36bn thats all. Quote from a serving soldier in Afghanistan - "The MoD has no money but is lavishing bonuses on its pencil-neck office staff as if they were bankers. It's disgusting. "We are out here getting shot at, only to be told we are losing our jobs. "It's a kick in the teeth. You would think they would do the decent thing and forego their bonuses." Says it all doesn't it? Pencil necks.... Edited October 28, 2011 by Loose

Although Rhodes obviously has deep a knowledge of the mysterious inner workings of the MOD, it would be unfair to ask him to make a contribution to this debate by talking to rif-raf like us and putting a glittering career at risk, and if I was also a high flier with aspirations of greatness or even a well deserved knighthood, I would feel the same. Perhaps for the duration of this thread Rhodes could be an honourary Mrs Mainwaring, because she never said anything, sensible or otherwise. Loose
Of course, Official Secrets Act and all that and blah blah blah ad infinitum, more than his life jobs worth to risk defending himself and/or his wastrel colleagues. But then do we really need them to tell us what a success absolute ballsup they are making with the taxpayers money????? No, didn't think so...... Loose
MoD caught with their pants down yet again trying to make wounded and injured service personnel redundant by stealth whilst still going through treatment and recovery. Is there truly any depth these bumbling boobs won't sink to? Having been caught out even their attempts to backtrack and cover up are pathetically incompetent. More scandal to come out of this one I'm afraid.

More scandal to come out of this one I'm afraid. Redundancy and early retirement packages in the public sector, and government owned companies like Royal Mail (and the taxpayer own banks) can be very generous indeed, unfortunately service personnel don't have the benefit of trade union representation so it will be interesting to read the small print of their redundancy terms. This administrations track record on fairness is not great though and I fear for the financial future of the people that have risked life and limb in the service of their country. Loose
Looks like someone in the government is finally prepared to shake the cosy and lazy boys club up by bringing in the private sector, maybe some good old fashioned commerce will be brought to bear:- http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/big-role-planned-for-private-sector-in-shakeup-of-defence-procurement-6281284.html
Loose
News coming in of latest MoD blunder. Bludgers in their purchase & procurement are accepting cost increases of 56% on their latest mad spending on 5 new submarines:- http://www.nwemail.co.uk/news/mod-too-optimistic-when-it-comes-to-costs-claim-1.911000?referrerPath=news/ An increase on an already inflated spend of £4.38bn?? What other business in the world would just swallow that? Can you see yourself putting up with it? So here's how it goes folks, you order a new fridge from Currys and pay for it in the shop but when it turns up they tell you they had to take some more money from your debit/credit card because its now more expensive and you just say "oh thats ok, thanks very much". Right?

Right? Much more important than the overspend is the moral integrity of the decision makers who authorise the spending on boys toys for armchair admirals and generals, while OAPs and others have to take life saving decisions on whether to eat or stay warm. Loose
Well I won't argue with you on that one Missunderstood, it's plain criminal but thats politics and we get our vote every 4 - 5 years but there's little to choose between either set of criminals however this overspending is also criminal particularly at a time when every other public service is enduring drastic cuts to their provisions for those senior citizens and other vulnerable groups which must include those having to make a hobsons choice of freeze or starve. What's worse we can't vote these civil service bludgers and downright thieves of public money out because they think they've got jobs for life! Big J R
Now they want to sink our retired carrier as a divers playground, and the latest news is, that as the U.S.A. are cutting back on defence big-time, our NEW carriers, WHEN we get them probably WON'T have any aircraft to fly off 'em, as the Yanks are putting the production of the said aircraft on hold ! You couldn't make it up, could you ??

You couldn't make it up, could you ?? "THEY" obviously can JR and are being allowed to. As you'll see from an earlier post they've overspent by £31Bn during the last two years and are obviously well on target for their BUDGETED overspend in this year alone of £34Bn. And they can't bring anything else in on target. No carriers, no planes, no IED protection and the list just goes on and on with no accountability. They do make it up.
