Billericay Town v Grays Athletic

Recommended Posts

Billericay Town beat Grays Athletic 2-1 tonight at New Lodge in the League Cup.

Chris Wild with the first half equaliser thanks to a clinical cross from Harrison Chatting.

Followed by a Jay May strike giving us the second half winner.

Grays were up for the game following our poor show on Saturday but they seemed to be easily swept aside (along with an easily led Ref and poor lino calls (imo)) by an up beat BTFC side.

Nice to see the BTFC faithful out tonight. COYB

A good result last night against a decent looking Grays side.

Craig took the opportunity to look at a few players including blast from the past Andy Tomlinson who had a decent night at left back. I think we may have seen a couple more youngsters had the U21s/reserves not had a game tonight.

I thought Grays edged the first half and played some decent football, but as the game went on we imposed ourselves more and more and really the second half was played exclusively in their half and I felt we deserved the win.

Given the recent debate I thought I'd do an H watch last night and it was easy to see why he has both fans and his not-fans. Going forward especially in the second half he looked very effective and as BB did mention did make the assist for one of our goals (see comments re Saturday!). However, it's fair to say he's not so keen going backwards - someone mentioned the phrase "luxury player" and when played as one of a four-man midfield maybe that cap does fit. Perhaps playing off a lone striker might be his best position - one that we may be able to try now Booty is out. Incidentally I thought Billy Radley did really well when he came on.

Pleased that Jay got a goal after a few games without. All in all quite a good night for us. Well done lads.

Come on you Blues!!

Agree entirely with JL. I think Grays more than edged the first half though and feel that we completely bossed the second period.

A much better showing than on Saturday which proves that the performance then was probably just a "blip".(Hopefully!)

Nice to see AT back after, what, 6 years? Hope he's here to stay.

Important to win after saturday's game. Even with an understrength side we managed to brush aside the top dogs of the league below. Strength in depth is something we haven't seen for a while. Onwubike(?) looked good in parts and 'H' for my money played well enough to start saturday. Good to see the Wild man back starting and Jay May deserved his goal. This is a very winnable competition and I hope we continue to progress.
