Anyone can ride on the crest of the wave when they are doing well but here at Slough Town we know that our history has been far from smooth and yet there is still regular supporters from all generations at our games.We all want what is best for the Slough football team.

However,a forum is about healthy debate, not patting everyone on the back and telling them how wonderful they are.Otherwise what would be the point of a forum.

 

IMO and it is just my opinion,the time to support the team as a fan is at the match itself. There is no point shouting and bawling out at players unless they are guilty of going over the top and putting in deliberate,reckless,shameful tackles and this is thankfully a rare thing but it's far better to encourage and offer words of support, to see the team play well.

This doesn't mean,though, that we as fans shouldn't have opinions about the football team,management,how the club is run,tactics etc as this is what a fans forum was invented for and if we didn't have one,we wouldn't have to read yours,Mr Hanworth Villa Fan, or any of our fans rhetoric and although I would have been quite happy not to have read about your supporters/team over the last week,it is the only way to break down stupid, big fish in small pond mentalities that clog up the pleasure of watching Non-League football and to clear the air with the views of the paying customers who keep the football clubs afloat.

On the night the best team won ..no doubts .. just disappointed we played really well in the first half and could have gone in 2 or 3 up . Hanworth seized their chances in the second half and we had a terrible 20 -25 mins , all of a sudden our defence went AWOL.

 

Until the equalizer went in ...the Hanworth crowd were very quiet compared to last Saturday ! But once they saw that goal in the place went crazy and they certainly can claim the crowd lifted the team to go for the jugular ! and the team responded.

 

Congratulations, enjoy the FA cup run ..like to see you get through to the first round proper ! and play a league team you have a squad that can do it !

 

For our team , THANKS too for taking us this far this season , we too have enjoyed the cup scalps we took along the way ! and we too know what we are capable of, so come on you Rebels .. see you all saturday..

WR, so just because I give my honest opinion this does not make me a true fan? I have supported this club through thick and thin over the years and on matchdays I get behind the team. So my ramblings are inane in your opinion but there are a lot of others on here who also post negative comments and give their honest opinion, yet I am the easy target yet again. I do the club no favours? Right, so my postings are to blame for our defeat last night, what a load of nonsense. I have always been positive and given credit when I feel it is right but will also be negative when I feel this is right, I pay my money like everyone else so I am entitled to my opinion.

 

I will not stop posting as I do not feel I have done anything wrong in this instance, I never threaten anyone, as for being a big mouth with no bite, I was there last night in all my glory wearing my grey hoodie, anyone could have come and had a chat with me, perhaps people didn't see me but thats no my problem...

 

Maybe I am the easy target as Steve Bateman outed me in the press during pre-season, why don't you have a look at all the other negative posts about Hanworth Villa and other games before you judge!!!

For all your benefits, the last few days has summed this forum up for me, numerous people jump in having a pop at Hanworth and yet again, the blinkers go up and I'm chastised for attempting to protect our view, then negative comments about performance are made by others, I agree with them and then its only me that appears to get the brunt...

 

So you'll all be pleased to know, I am off for good this time, its been emotional and I'll be tearing up my season ticket, After nearly 35 years of supporting Slough, your all to thickle for me and the club I knew no longer exists...

 

Good luck to the forum mafia... And 3spirit, Nathan etc, don't bow to this lot, you boys have common sense so keep giving your honest opinion.

two grown men acting like spoilt school kids, does not really matter who is right or wrong. just think of the bad pr to the club here. yet again the forum is worse than a chimps tea party.

 

this forum should be for any honestly held opinion, providing it does not break the forum rules. the fact that it upsets you is not a reason for it not being posted. surely two grown men can have a sensible adult debate and agree to differ. you both hold the club dear, and no one doubts that, in the end you both want the club to suceed. no one is going to agree all the time. both cookham and windsor have the right to their views, and equally have the right to respond, it's just how they have done it. again!!!!!

I went and watched the game last night and Slough did look the better side up until half time and probably should have been 2-0 up, but they were not. (Sonner and Burnell's movement and workrate was very good 1st half)

In the 2nd half though Hanworth looked the much better team and certainly made Slough look poor and finished the game worthy winners.

I do though fear for Slough's progress in the league this year if last night was anything to go by as they do not appear to have much bottle when the going gets tough. They will need to rectify this if they are to get into the play offs this year let alone win the league, because as the season goes on there will be more of these type of games against other teams also wanting promotion.

I think Slough need a little bit of what the Hanworth players certainly had last night and on Saturday, passion, guts and knowing when to dig in a little bit when its not going their way.

Good cup game to watch though and good luck to both Slough Town and Hanworth Villa.

Think a lot has been said about the two games and most of it in the heat of the moment.

 

Slough are a very good footballing side, but from a outsiders point of view a few, a few lads have a real chip on their shoulders.

 

They were clapped off the pitch and told "well done", "good luck" etc. Most were gracious but a few looked angry and didn't even feel to say a thank you... Poor show in my opinion. But understandable I suppose, bound to be a few bruised egos.

 

Think everyone is in agreement Hanworth deserved it over the two legs. They honestly are a great bunch of boys with hearts like lions! Just hope you don't come tapping up any of the boys!!!

 

Great banter over the last few days, honestly wish you all the best in the future and if you don't go up this year... HOPEFULLY we will see you next season.
