,they enter the Surrey Cup(mickey mouse cup) I call it with a youth side, never play a game at home, and are allowed to do this by the Surrey F.A.IN WHAT MUST BE A FIXED DRAW,or are they just lucky?I will let you decide.

It's clearly not a fixed draw as it's done all the way to the final right from the start.

The winners of Palace and Ash are at home to Woking or Merstham in the next round. The winners of that are at home in the quarter finals and again in the semis so, this season, Palace have only had one away draw.

I've looked through the past results and the last time they played a 'home' game was in 2007-08 but that's not because of the draw. If they'd won more games they would have been at home a few more times since then, they don't do very well very often in the competition because of the nature of the team they put out but at least they put a team in the competition. Many league clubs refuse to enter their county cups. It's a shame the Senior Cup is now thought of as a lesser competition but this doesn't just apply to Palace - there are some CCL sides who take it less seriously these days and use it as a squad game.

By the way - when I say 'home' for Palace I know they don't use Selhurst Park - I think they've used Croydon Athletic's ground in the past. Again, who can blame them? The cost of opening and running Selhurst Park for a game must be huge. Even clubs like Woking don't open up all their ground when Hayes & Yeading play there due to the costs of stewarding etc.

The rest of what you've said is no doubt true and that's a shame. A lot of the top clubs are realising the long-term benefits of reaching out to their local communites and getting kids from miles around involved. You only have to look at Reading getting local youth teams to act as a guard of honour for the players at Championship games to see what simple things can be done that the kids love being part of.

Isn't it nice to steer a topic away from Guernsey for once?

Having said that I'm going to pop along to Ashford tonight to see what all the fuss is about.

Very much looking forward to this game tonight and also to Saturdays Bedfont Guernsey match. Two of the biggest games of the season for GFC!!! If they win both these games then I really do think everyone else will be playing for 2nd and 3rd place. However, I am predicting that they won't win either game - it's a score draw for me tonight and a narrow win for Bedfont on Saturday.
