Exactly how many of the now homeless travellers did you welcome into Rhodes Towers last night, or was you too late as they were already being invited into their nice but dim middle class supporters homes?

I see that Basildon Council are to be congratulated for bringing in the final bill for clearing out these woeful wasters under budget at £4.8m. Still a disgraceful waste of locals money all because a few "do gooders" with their PC mentality supported a bunch of tax dodging, dole cheating wastes of space in their bid to "live free" following their "traditional way of life". Traditional as in many of them taking up hard standing non moving "caravans" on land not designated with planning use.

 

Thats new facilities the good people of Basildon will never see now, wasted public services that in this recession they've paid for but won't get to enjoy the benefit of. Talk about Broken Britain eh?

IMO its all due to the me first selfish society created by Thatcher, and until our children are taught good citizenship and decent values nothing will change significantly.

Have to agree missunderstood, all started with the worship of celebrity, greed is good, "Loads a money!". Started with the breakdown in societies fabric with the break up of communities and families, with single parent families and men with children abrogating their responsibilities in providing role models and financial support.

........... and on the same subject of 'travellers', here's another one to watch.

 

Mole Valley District Council attempted to remove travellers from their site in River Lane Fetchan, Surrey a few years ago, the case eventually going to the court of appeal. M.V.D.C. lost, at great expense to the council tax payers. (Now where have I heard of M.V.D.C. losing another civil case at great expense ? Think it had somethng to do with a local non-league football club !!)

 

I read last week that M.V.D.C. are due to have yet another go at removing the travellers.

 

I shall watch the ensuing case with great interest, (as a local council tax payer !)
