"Disgraced Redditch United striker Josh McKenzie will never play for the club again after he punched referee Chris Wicks causing yesterday's game with Chesham being abandoned"

This was the same referee who handled our game at Walton & Hersham last week.

I make no further comment.

Why should he hang his head in shame.

He made no comment on the affair except to repeat what was written in a newspaper and add some further information which was relevant.

I dont think that FJ would condone the players actions at all, indeed he is more likely to be critical of the assault than not.

Sorry Papa, no intention of hanging my head in shame, or indeed anything. I thought it might be of interest to Town fans that the previous week's referee had the misfortune to be assaulted in his next game. Just information, nothing else.

Jeez - do I have to spell everything out?

FJ,

To be fair, your original post did seem to suggest that there was some incident or decisions with the Ref at your game. At least that what I took it as.

I think it's all just another case of PL stirring up the people within our club.

'I make no further comment' might as well read as 'I put it to debate', We can be on here all day If you want to mis read lines to suit mischieviousness as PL is aiming to do.

I'm very fortunate that I know firstly we have a first team manager who is on a 6 match unbeaten run and long may it continue although we all know we will lose another game at some point (which is when PL makes his 'further comments') and I also know that FJ is one of the least controversial characters we have in our mix. To say he should hang his head in shame is laughable and in fact shows that PL is no more than a wee Willie Wonker.

No it didn't

Whatever.. you have your view. others have theirs.... It totally depends on how your post is interpreted. Your "I make no further comment", can be read differently.

Fair comment, although it seems that only the professional mischief maker chose to misinterpret what I said.

Am I reading between the lines if you are calling me the 'professional mischief maker?' I would have thought you were the mischief maker with your posting.

Was there a need to mention this in the first place and point out that it was the referee from the previous week's game?

All I asked you was 'what were you saying?'

Mind you, you did say you were going to make no further comment.

God this is pathetic! I read it as mentioning that he was the previous week's ref so that people would have a hook to relate too. He has already explained that and that is how I read it. He is not a liar! Although I expect PL to leap on this coz that is what he does - you should know better - grow up!

Right - positively for the last time, with subtitles for the hard of thinking:-

The facts are as follows:

  • Mr Wicks refereed our game at Walton and Hersham
  • Seven days later he was assaulted after sending a player off.

I thought that this would be of interest to Town fans, therefore I made the post.

However, Mr Wicks' performance at Walton was, shall we say, controversial, with neither club particularly happy. For that reason, I took great pains to avoid referring to the Walton game, hence 'I make no further comment'. This was open to misinterpretation I admit, and those that enjoy wilfully misinterpreting things duly obliged.

I have been a referee, and I have been assaulted, though not seriously, so I took it a given that I would not condone the actions of the Redditch player. (However, wilful misinterpretation, etc...) Anyone who thinks differently either does not know me or has posted maliciously.

Andy - the professional mischief-maker was Papa Lazarou not you. I am disappointed in you.

Right, I have now spelled everything out in words of very few syllables, and will take steps to avoid confusing simple people in future. That really is my last word on the matter.
