Chesham v Redditch was abandoned after Josh McKenzie of Redditch hit the referee during the second half, when Chesham were leading 1-0.

Redditch said on their website... 'Following an incident on the pitch at today’s Chesham United match where Josh McKenzie hit the referee and as a result the match was abandoned, Redditch United Football Club took immediate action to deal with this isolated incident. Within minutes of the incident the Club has canceled the players registration has stated that he will never play for the Club again.

“We pride ourselves on fair play and will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. The team has worked very hard over the past few weeks and we will not let this one individual tarnish the reputation of our much loved Club.”'

The player was arrested and taken away by police.

Club's do this as a knee jerk reaction don't they and you find that the player concerned is playing again once the dust has settled, it happened with Kentish Town following an incident during an FA Cup replay at Wellingborough Town in 2008

I see that the Chesham United v Redditch United game is featured in today's Non League paper under the headline 'Hit Ref Made A Meal Of It', apparently it was like the Paulo di Canio and Referee Paul Alcock incident at Hillsborough and Redditch's Josh McKenzie simply pushed the Referee with an open hand who reacted like he had been shot.
