QE Are we in?

Here is an update for everyone.

The last reported date for hand over was 14th October, but at a recent meeting an over run was reported and a new date of 21st October was given. This is in part caused by changes requested by English Heritage to parts of the building that they deem to be of architectural importance. The Council's contractors are doing all they can to meet these changes and we hope the new date can be met.

Much of the external works are now in place. Disabled ramps have been installed front and back, external toilets are modernised, fencing work for the pitch and other areas that were needed have all been completed. Electrical and heating work is progressing inside the building and is completed in the changing room areas. These are now being kitted out with the necessary wash facilities and having lockers and benches etc installed. The bar area is in delay as the services are still being installed and we are unable to work in that area at the moment.

We will arrange for a ground grading inspection to take place as soon as the ground is handed over. Subject to any remedial works required we would hope for a decision by the ground grading committee a week later, and we will not be able to play league football until that has been signed off. This means there is likely to be a two week period after the handover that we will be using to finish off kitting out our areas in the ground and testing our procedures etc. Taking all the above into account it is probably going to be November before we have first team fixtures played in the ground. We will keep you informed when it is possible to be more definite. It is hoped that we can start to use the ground before then for training and reserve/ youth fixtures.

It is not practical to answer every specific question on here, but I will provide a further update as things progress.

A few more weeks is not going to make that much difference in the greater scheme of things so well done to all(I know you know my thoughts on a pitch within a track) and thanks to Scoopydo for the update.

No point in rushing things when there could be so many things which could go wrong if you upset people like English Heritage. To say that the building has had little investment over the last 'x' number of years, and that we were still playing at the Brimmabeu in May, then I am sure that everyone should be congratulating all those who have worked tirelessly in developing the facility over such a short space of time.

Fireworks on and off the pitch on the 5th? Would certainly attract some extra spectators if off field fireworks could be arranged. Mind you, may not be enough time. How about a few sparklers?

5th "could" be an FA Trophy game !!!

If we are still in the Trophy we will be drawn away
