Emmm, they got beat maybe

However if you had bothered to read all the postings you would have seen Winslow Boy's assessment of the game.

Emmm, they got beat maybe

It's just unlike a Winslow United side to lay down and die like that that's all

Division 1

1 1 Ampthill Town v New Bradwell St Peter

45

An anorak from another's Forum was at Ampthill Park last night:

Ampthill Town 1 New Bradwell St Peter 1 (Spartan South Midlands League Division 1) Att: 54 h/c

A most agreeable evening in the unexpected and genial company of Villan. This is a cracking little ground with a more than decent main stand on a bank which provides a splendid view of proceedings. Sadly the first half was pretty poor stuff and the visitors were well worth their lead at half time. The second half was much better as the home side came to life and looked the more likely winners. As seems obligatory at this level, we had the usual bout of handbags near the end: it was all caused by the home number 10's dreadful challenge, and the outcome was no punishment for him but two of his team mates were sent off. In the end a draw was about right.

Admission £2 including programme - must be about the cheapest Step 6 football around. Middle sized cup of tea: 60p.

Tuesday 11th October

Division 1

3 0 Chesham United Reserves v Sun Postal Sports

78

A report on this one from another's Forum:

SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE 1

Chesham United Reserves 3-0 Sun Postal Sports

Admission £5.00 inc prog. Small chips £1.00 (large trays hadn't been delivered) Very frothy coffee £1.30

Attendance 78

After a relatively mundane first half, the game suddenly exploded with SPS seemingly reduced to 10 men and Chesham asserting their superiority to leave the visitors in an ever-increasingly desperate position at the bottom.

According to the fixture list, CUR will have played 24 of their 42 by the end of November. Maybe the league are fearing another winter of multiple postponements and want everyone to play as much as possible before then.

A few "likely lads" in attendance, but nothing annoying. Half time entertainment courtesy of someone telling his listeners what the time was in various parts of the world

How's this for service??? All six of Royston's goals versus Hatfield Town less than two hrs after full time.

As I wrote on the cold end I reckon they played better when I last saw them against Hoddesdon in the HERTS CHARITY CUP at the beginning of August and they lost that one. Ominous for the rest of the league???

An interesting comment on another's Forum from last night's game, does anyone know where the site is:

Also at Hatfield Town. As described Royston were easy winners. A club official said they are two was into a seven year lease at the Gosling, but don't expect to be there that long. He said they've identified a site in Hatfield which they are looking to develop.

And we're underway at Bell Close...

1. Jamie Eames ran through straight from kick off, shot flew wide of target

United lining up with Edgeworth and Simpson as the front pairing, Baines on the left and Hallford on the right

2. Early corner for Colney, ball punched away by Sillitoe under pressure after ball span up

6. Baines wins free kick. Mercer delivered into the area but easy catch for the keeper

7. Handball awarded against Wood 35-yards out. Eames lines up the free-kick... Got through the wall, taking a nick to go wide for Colney's 3rd corner of the night

Cleared away fairly easily

9. Clearance smashed against Perks nearly ricocheted in, Sillitoe alert to save

10. Garcia collected ball in the box, tried long range shot but pulled it wide

12. First bit of linkup between the front two sees Simpson put away by Edgeworth, but he's offside

16. Ball played inside to Eames, urged to shoot, fired well over

24. Drive into box from Garcia, feeding on Simpson's improvisation, cross flew across the face of goal - begging for a touch

34. Perks caught excellent half volley. Blocked by Mulholland when seemingly goalbound

37. Simpson booked for dissent

39. Game stopped, Hallford struggling with his breathing. Worrying looking

Stretcher called for

45. Hallford stretchered off, Acheampong replaces him

45. GOAL! 1-0 Colney. Neat one-two between Perks and Cooper after Mercer beaten on the far side, Cooper confident finish

45. Perks headed over from close range after ball helped on by Perks

45. Barnett and Cooper booked for a coming together

45. Embarrassingly the ref gave a free-kick to Colney for the incident. No idea how he came to that conclusion

45. Embarrassingly the ref has given a penalty.

45 . GOAL! 2-0 Colney. Cooper rolled home the penalty

HT: Aylesbury 0-2 Colney Heath: Poor first half matched only by Aylesbury's poor performance. In truth the scoreline is what we deserve, looking devoid of anything, but the referee isn't helping.

Second half off and running. Let's hope it's better.

1. Edgeworth put in behind the defence for the first time, on the right flank. Went for a lob, well over, but taken out by the keeper

2. Barnes booked for the offence, but Mercer's free-kick delivery is eventually cleared away

7. Mulholland booked for taking Cooper out as he tried to spin

8. Resulting free-kick left footed but well over from Corran

13. Double sub from Aylesbury: Dimitrov and Field on for Simpson and Barnett

20. Ball over the top released Field, first decent chance for Aylesbury. Keeper made a good save to turn it around the post

20. The resulting corner headed wide by Mulholland

21. GOAL! 3-0 Colney. Mistake from Jack Wood (yes, you read it right, Jack Wood mistake!). Presented Cooper with a chance in the box, but still needed a superb finish to find the far side of the net. COOPER HAT-TRICK

23. Silvestri shot charged down in the box

24. Wood lucky to escape a booking for a 'hard' challenge

28. Quick free kick rolled in to Baines, teed up Edgeworth whose shot from outside the box rolled wide

30. Colney defending resolutely. Shots from Baines and Silvestri blocked

32. Dimitrov played in down left, ball across goal turned wide by Field

32. Colney sub: Renphrey on for Cooper

35. Ball over the top allowed Perks in for a shot, excellent block by Mulholland

36. Dickie fired a shot over the bar

37. Colney sub: Williams on for Coombs

39. PENALTY to Aylesbury. Silvestri sent tumbling in the box

40. GOAL! 1-3. Late consolation as Mercer confidently dispatches a penalty

44. Acheampong booked. Reason ?

45. Much more like it from Aylesbury. Great football ends with Dimitrov passing to Field who spins and shoots just past the upright. So close

FT. Aylesbury 1-3 Colney Heath: Last few minutes were an improvement, but it was all over long before that. Poor overall

My thanks to the Aylesbury United website's live feed for allowing me to post this information tonight.

Only saw the second half at Aylesbury Utd vs Colney Heath & as I walked behind the clubhouse goal a lot of the home fans were having a good moan. Had seen on Twitter they were 2 down beore I got there so was wondering if it would be one way traffic.

Colney Heath looked more likely to extend their lead and did so with a quality finish from Ian Cooper for his hat trick on 66 mins. Twisted & turned a defender a couple of times before firing across goal into the top corner from a tight angle. After that the home side came more into the game & had a few goalmouth scrambles that came to nothing. The Colney keeper was by far the busier & made some decent saves as well as claiming most of the high balls that came into the very dark 6 yard box. After another scramble Colney conceded a penalty whch was converted and led to a backs to the wall last 7 or 8 mins but no further goals

PREMIER DIVISION

3-1 London Tigers v Harefield United (@ Harefield) (Attendance 45)

(H) Cariba (60m), Bettemer (64m, 88m) : (A) Sonner (81m)

A report on this one from a distinguished member of another's Forum:

London Tigers 3 Harefield 1 SSML Prem Div (at Harefield)

Admission £6

Programme included with admission 24 pages

Attendance 45

Cheeseburger £2.50, very nice it was as well

A trip back to Harefield for a Tigers 'home' game, switched from their own ground due to a copper pipe theft making the ground not fit for use

A very fast paced game whizzed by as chances were spurned at both ends with Harefield looking particularly toothless upfront while the Tigers seemed to have more bite with very speedy counterattacks. 0-0 at half time but my thoughts that Tigers would use their pace kicking from right to left in the 2nd half proved correct as they went into a 2 goal lead with a keeping howler contributing to one of the goals. Harefield pulled one back with a 25 yard free kick but were undone pushing forward for the equaliser and conceded a third. Tigers looked a bit ropey in defence and better teams will score a few against them but they are very good on the counterattack and would be even better if they'd look across the line and not get caught offside

Enjoyable game with a few regular West London faces in attendance and the cheeseburger was very tasty and served with a smile which was nice

Finally, I don't mind you using this report Cliff , aka Rhodes, but don't dare call me an anorak
