Cray game

No doubt (just like the propermanager ) all us armchair experts will be contemplating the` type of side we need to play v cray.

Personally-i hope a strong side is played and every effort is made to win the game.

realistiically-we will be out of the FA Cup by saturday;and that does not leave to much to play for (one hopes we won't be fighting against relegation).

Crowds will start to dwindle further as winter approaches-and the club needs something to be playing for in Jan and Feb to stimulate a bit of interest.

That to me is where the KSC and Boon cup come in.

Its not the winning of the competitions that matters-but its simply to stimulate a bit of interest come Jan and Feb-when games are fewer-;and it givers a chance then to play thhose needing a game because if injury recover-and to play a few of those not getting regular games.

The KSC and Boon cups may not seem important now-but in the new year-we will all wish we were still in those competions

One of the most important games this season for the Club. Win this and we have a home draw with Ramsgate, a potential big gate. Win that one and we have a home draw against Charlton(Or Bromley) another good pay night along, with the Gills further down the line. It's a pity we have Bromley so close(Saturday) as financially this is a earner as well.

These games are very important.

These are the bits that I found depressing in the initial post; the football season amounts to a marathon, not a sprint, and if we start writing games off before they are played and accepting that crowds will dwindle further we might as well shut up shop now.

There are a lot of people who do a tremendous amount of good work for this club, any club in fact, and I really do believe that such statements are unnecessary.

Let's just back the club, staff and players all the way.

It simply fact-nothing else.

Its been like that at every club for about 20 years.

Is it not a simply fact that attendances fall as winter approaches

Thats why most clubs shed a few players about this time of year-once they are out of the major cup competitions.

Thats why i say that competitions like the KSC and boon cup-are important-to create a bit of further interest, and keep momentum going as long as possible.

I remember when we had 1,001 for a KSC semi with Charlton in 1994. Though I'm not sure they would be such a draw these days. If we were drawn away I presume it would be at The Valley. I saw Sittingbourne play Charlton there in the KSC. Though, of course, on current form Cray are clear favourites tomorrow (assuming they field a good strength side).

I shan't be attending tomorrow night despite being off from work. Not because its an inferior cup match but because I will be packing for my holiday the next morning.Had there been no holiday next day I would almost certainly have attended, and attend every other home game, whether that be League, major cup or micky mouse cup. We should always look to win every game & to attend as many games as is possible to attend.

Mouse I'm afraid. I can't pick & choose my holiday dates Jim. Unlike you retired folk (or is it unemployed?) who can go wherever & whenever they please. Together with that the stress of home match results has forced me into having & needing a break right now too.
