Oh dear terrible defending.Keeper failing to come for ball (as I have noticed in a previous game) & make it his.

Defenders not marking the opposition & just watching the ball come over rather than going to it (as I have noticed in previous games). Failing to attack the ball (as I have noticed in previous games).Onlookers (as I have noticed in previous games),I would call them.

Then to round it off a failure to clear off the line by tall defenders of all people.

Awful awful awful. Gees, had I been there I would have gone mad seeing that live.

Request to Wellsie ... would it be possible to have a progress report on the fitness/availability of Simon Overland?

I know he's there on the bench, but what are the chances of him coming on if, say, Jack Smelt got a red card?

Is he on the bench just to give us 5 subs?

Is he semi-fit so he could take a place in an emergency? or

Is he fully fit & we're keeping Jack in goal because he has the place until he F***'s Up real bad?

Please ask the questions.

Most of that is not something that we'll go into on a public forum, just as we don't talk about specific injuries players may be carrying. So I'm afraid the answer to the request is "no". What I will say is that perhaps the coming midweek fixture is an opportunity to gve a number of players an opportunity to have a run out. But CK has yet to decide (refer to his interview) what he'l do on Tuesday.

With thanks to Carshalton fan who filmed from behind Jacks Goal.

PS was it a corner or goal kick?

Keeper failing to come for ball

Hi Cookie, I'll just comment on this one - There is no way he should be coming for the ball (or should have) for the goal in question mate. The ball actually get's a flick on from the Carshalton player almost on the apex of the six yard box (you have to frame by frame it if you wish, but trust me it does) which takes it to almost the penalty spot where the lad hooks it back in. There is no point where the ball is in the correct area to claim it. Even the non-league newspaper got it wrong as it stated 'Jack Smelt fumbled the corner' - clearly he didn't.

Sorry Pridders but I beg to differ.

Of course I am only going by the film because I couldnt be there in person but yes I did see it in slow-mo,frame by frame before I made a comment.

No flick from their player at the near post (This particular player being completely unmarked I hasten to add).Had he got a touch he would almost certainly have scored himself.

I saw a flicked header away by our player (Pooley) on the apex of the 6 yard box, though in fairness it could have been their player or a bit of each, out to the Carshalton player who in turn then hooked it back into the net. Whoever flicked it away with his head cannot be proven one way or another from that clip even in slow motion (but the odds are & if anything it looked like Pooley to me). Whoever did the fact remains it went to the scorer of their goal.

The ball was originally put over into or around the 6 yard box in my opinion the keeper should have made it his in that area or at least have punched it away i..m o..

If he has to remain on his goal-line then why, after the shabby & inaffective clearance, move off the line & away from that area in question..Had he stayed put at that point he could well have saved the goal from being scored (caught it in fact).

Take a look as to where is ends up when the ball has been hooked back & see how close he was to getting a fingertip to it despite coming out a yard or 2.

I'll add something to my previous comments. A taller goalkeeper would almost certainly have tipped that hooked shot over the bar,at least.

Footnote:I am in not putting 100% blame down to the keeper by the way, as others around hm seem to have failed in their positioning & defensive duties also.

My fault re NLP report, as son was away, translation got lost but like Cookie I thought Jack should have claimed the ball but seemed to stand in no mans land. Apologies to him though for saying he "fumbled" it.
