It weren't a dig at GD, was just saying there's a team with a better record. GD, yes Bedfont are or rivals but have many friends there and always want them to do well but not aswell as us!! Lol!!

Smudge, care to back up your ill-informed rumours with any facts? I have asked before but you always fail too.

It's a sad day when you let petty jealously get in the way and just post lies and more damn lies. Poor on this forum for allowing it too.

All of the guernsey players had jobs in guernsey long before GFC was formed so what have they all left jobs for these jobs you claim?

You really do come across as a bit of a fool at times smudge.

HKP,maybe I am mistaken, but thought that maybe 6 Players, have only just returned to Guernsey,in recent times.Ryan Zico Black for one.

smudge you are indeed mistaken, thought I had explained this at least once before.......

Zico has been back for at least a year after leaving Australia. This had nothing to do with GFC, he was playing in the priaulx league for the team he played for before having a career in the non league scene.

GFC players PAY for the privledge of playing for the club.

All the players had jobs before GFC was created. As far as I am aware none of them have a jobs anything to do with any sponsors, if they havebthen that is just a coindenence.

For jersey rugby club it is well known that the practice is common and well known, but this SIMPLY DOES NOT HAPPEN with GFC.

I wonder what Smudge will think when jersey setup a similar club and throw money atnit for fun? I firmly believe that this will as jersey have history of folllwing what guernsey do and always think they can do better. I am told that jersey are following GFC was keen interest.

By the way, as he was mentioned prior to the game, I thought the ref Mr Singh had a great game.

Just been going through my photos, it was so cloudy that I haven't got many good ones, just enough to put one or two on my blog though which I'll do at some point soon. Guernsey brought their own photographer though so should be plenty of good ones there.

So GFC lose their first game - Spelthorne were perhaps unlucky not to draw in the cup game at their place by all accounts so it shouldn't really be a shock to anyone. I've always expected GFC to lose a couple of games and I've not changed my view. It appears that player availability is undoubtedly becoming a slight worry. If only 3 of the players who started the game I saw at home v Worcester Park started yesterday, its not a knee jerk excuse to losing a game, its an observation - GFC are not able to pick the side they want to, week in week out. Yes, all sides could say this due to injuries/availability but there appear to be a number of reasons why GFC have to use so many players - local politics clearly being a bigger issue than most CCL fans appreciate.

Either way, I reckon they will fight it out with HW and maybe Bedfont for the title, and have the right people behind the scenes to take any set backs in their stride and continue to perform with quality, commitment and ,very importantly, good grace.

Thanks for a great post. Any defeats will be taken by us with grace. We will obviously be disappointed with any defeats, but we certainly won't throw our toys out of the pram !

Newby - haven't seen you play yet but the wise men watching tell me HW might just have the edge over you. Now don't bite, just go and so GFC a favour by beating HW when you play them!

Seriously, I hear you are improving, have a couple of half decent centre halves who attack the ball well and are serious contenders.

centre halves who attack the ball well ive been playing there your informant must be wrong lol

ive got a decscent record over hw other teams dont bother us an how there doing we jus go about our buisness. i actually like the fact teams could under estimate us, no one this season has outplayed us even when we lost in the two cups!!!

we finished fourth last season after a poor run in so hopefully weve built on that an we'll improve on that fourth spot!!

Newby - with that list of favourite players on there, I didn't think you were a fancy dan with quick feet playing out on the touchline! JT - great role model on the pitch. Booby Moore and Baresi truly world class but probably not worth asking youngsters today to imitate that - they were so, so good at the very top of world football, and you wouldn't be playing non-league football if you could carry that off!

All CCL1 teams need at least one JT in their team, and it sounds like you are doing a decent job so well done.

Have to say that the Guernsey fans have surprised me on this thread. Based on a few of their comments in other threads after their wins, I was expecting the usual 'it was the refs fault' or 'we were short of players' etc. None of that, just a well done for the the win.

Great to see.

The general reaction in Guernsey is that most fans are almost HAPPY that we lost a game. Well, happy may be too strong a word to use, but we feel that this suprise defeat can only benefit the league and keeps things interesting. As strange as it sounds, watching your team win 3-0, 4-0 or 9-0 every week can actually get boring, and that is not being disrespectful to any other team that we have beaten.

Tony Vance, the Guernsey Manager, was also very gracious in defeat and admitted in the Guernsey Press that Spelthorne fully deserved the win. I personally am looking forward to see how my team react to this. I dont like to use missing players as an excuse. There is still plenty of football to be played and I remain confident Guernsey can secure a top 3 finish.
