v Gosport Borough Trophy game

Actually CR, my first comment was meant to apply generally, not just to individuals, so sorry for not making that clear. My second point about the "forum mafia" thing still stands though. As a moderator myself I can't remember removing or altering any posts due to an opinion I didn't like - and nor will I ever, unless it breaks any rules. But I'm glad you want to put this game to one side and focus on a very important game next weekend where I'm sure we'll see a drastic improvement.

I don't see anything wrong with any of the comments on the Gosport game. There is bound to be disappointment when we lose 3-0 and for supporters to make their views known.

I think it may have been very difficult for the manager to motivate the players today for a game in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy after their excellent performances in the FA Cup and the League.

I think we need to stand back from the odd poor performance like today and appreciate where we are:- 3rd in the league, STILL in the FA CUP and a strike partnership that has already scored 15 goals at this early stage of the season.

I also hear the odd criticism directed at the height of Burnell & Sonner which I don't really understand as Sean is not particularly short and is probably the best header of the ball in the team and he works really well with Danny.

I dont think anyone was suggesting that you don't have the right to comment/criticise/praise the performances.

I think the point is that a sense of proportion needs to be kept. Yes it was crap today, but last week was brilliant and no doubt it will be brill again and crap again and some indifferent.

Just look a the number of posts on here about the game today ..Matt is 100% correct with his comment !

point proven ...

The number of posts on here today is very little to do with posters dissing the performance, but is much more to do with posters disagreeing.

Ive been out of the country for over a month and came back late last night. Ive been playing catch up with the forum and the local press and frankly Im pleased we are out of the trophy. I have to agree with those who realize that long cup runs will damage our championship prospects The FA cup is worth pursuing but I dont believe we should become mired in other cup runs especially with heavier pitches on the way. Some people are already talking about our play-off prospects but I dont think we should be thinking like that We have been there twice in the last two seasons and twice weve seen poorly prepared and unmotivated teams heavily beaten Why would this year be different? We need to make winning the league our mindset This needs to be our championship season and we have the talent and experience in the squad to achieve this but from reading the forum reports whilst Ive been away the problems of last season do still seem to be around particularly the inconsistency the players who play well one week and seem totally disinterested the next the bickering amongst ourselves and the bookings. Im looking forward to Saturdays game but really want to see us going to the top of the league and pulling steadily away I dont buy the hype around St. Neots and I believe that makes us the best squad in the league and the team need to start believing in themselves and expecting to win when they run out Of course they cant/wont win every game but they will win more if they have a united belief in themselves .

who is right ,who is wrong, time and time again the same argument on who has the right to say what about the team, wether it be negative or positive , the answer is we all have ,and that is what adds colour to sites like ours. however the truth about todays performance is that we were crap, we lacked discipline, any idea on how to deal with gosports play and any desire. this is now two matches on the trot where we have been outperformed by teams in a lower league position than us and that are a bit physical in the way they play. we seem to fall in to there clutches by losing all discipline and falling into there preferred style of opposition, well i have news for you, i have it on good authority that hanworth villa are that style of opposition and we need to get it sorted with the greatest of speed, we have to keep our discipline and play our own game, be in the faces of all the oppositions players and frustrate them as much as we can, if we can do this then i can see us progressing if not then, well i'll say no more,

I am with Irish Adrian and actually quite pleased we are out of the Trophy and also quite pleased I missed what sounds like a pretty poor display.

Playing at this level and expecting consistency is frankly ridiculous. Look at the teams in the Premier League. Over the past ten seasons there are probably three teams who have been consistent. Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal as they are the only ones who have regularly qualified for the Champions League and challenged for domestic honours. So calling on part timers, with full time jobs and other commitments to perform consistently seems somewhat naive.

At the start of this season in an ideal world I would have taken a decent FA Cup or Trophy run to bring in some prize money and a title challenge. Hopefully we can get at least one more win in the cup to achieve one half of that aim. With the trophy falling away we can now turn to the league.

What we then need to do is grind out results. Based on recent years I would look at North Greenford as a point won rather than two points lost. Recent years have seen us struggle to get clean sheets and get beaten by the odd goal rather than see games out when things are not firing up top. At least we managed not to concede on Tuesday and that is the one foundation of consistency.

Now I am hoping to hear good things next Saturday and then whilst I am away - come on you Rebels.
