Thamesmead v Margate updates

Simply staggered.

I thought thamesmead were poor saturday-and did'nt envisage for one minute they would be so poor two games on the trot-but even so-at least we took advantage this time-great stuff-though i remain staggered .

Most importantly-£4500 .

Only an additional £1,995,500 to find for the additional cost of the ground now .

Will Kwasi get player of the round ,and thus book a seat at the final in May ?

Vote Kwasi .

Up the 'Gate

Absolutely delighted with the response from the players tonight after saturday. Really had to dig in just after half time when they pinched one back.

Appiah is unplayable on that kind of form, once his confidence was up he looked like scoring everytime he got the ball.

Overall a superb shift from the whole team, let's not dwell on the conceded goal, 6-1 will do nicely for me!

We did a professional job tonight. Thamesmead just fell to pieces after our third. When was the last time a Margate player scored four goals in one half? The first tonight was deffo an own goal.

I understand there was feverish speculation at tonight's North Kent Derby that Ian Pulman might be signing for us.

Lets just hope it remains exactly that-feverish speculation only.

we caught a cold the last time he was 're-signed'.

Whilst no doubt he has grown up-apart from the fact that he is proven as simply not good enough at this level-i'm sure Mr Kinnear remebers that 5-1 defeat to Grays at Ashfords ground where Pulman on the subs bench was laughing behind CK's back-not a good night that one.

Taken from Eastbourne forum...

Pulman is off to Margate now, Saturday was his last game. He was waiting for the result of the Margate FA Cup game on saturday to see whether Margate had the funds to sign him permanently or just on a loan deal. Unfortunately wont be seeing any more of him, he was a livewire player i thought and not given enough pitch time by the first team.

Hastings United are stepping up their search for a striker after being held to a frustrating goalless draw at home to the bottom team in the Ryman Premier.

The U’s struggled to pose much of a threat in the final third against a Leatherhead side which picked up only their second point of the season on Tuesday night.

The blank scoreline means Jason Hopkinson’s outfit have managed only eight goals in nine league fixtures - the equal second lowest goal return behind the basement boys.

Hopkinson, who has additional funds available to specifically strengthen the team in attack, said: “I’ve spoken to three forwards in the last three weeks. I’ve spoken to Orient, I’ve spoken to Gillingham and I’m speaking to Brighton.

“I spoke to a lad at Eastbourne Borough - Ian Pulman - and he nearly signed. Margate came in for him at the last minute and offered him £100 more.”

Hastings are without a fixture this weekend due to scheduled opponents Aveley being involved in the FA Cup so the manager will take the opportunity to seek out a possible signing.

“I can’t afford to make a mistake,” he went on. “I’ve been offered two forwards but they’re not quite right for us. They’d cost me a bit of money and I haven’t got the money to waste. I need to get it right.

“I need a bit of pace. We haven’t got a big lump who can hold the ball up and we haven’t got anyone with a bit of pace and with a little bit about them.

“There’s one from Orient I really like. I nearly took him last year but I went for Ports instead. I like him, he’d be right for us.”

See today’s Hastings Observer for the full article.

A bit grumpy my last post.

Simply that i feel every signing needs to be an improvement on what we have already.

If he has indeed signed-genuinely wish him well, that he becomes a scoring sensation, that my big big doubts are completely unfounded ,and that i am completely wrong.

Big risk for CK as well-as i suspect a few others won't be to impressed if he does become one of CK's signings and he does not work out.

Just hope CK is right

Have to disagree with you about Pullman,Michael. When he was here he impressed me with his speed & workrate & I was a little dissappointed when he went as I am positive he would have done well given regular matches.

He didnt get a decent run here then dropped a league where naturally he did very well. He then raised his game in a higher league to us though apparently didnt get much of a look in there either.

Dropping back a league will see that experience & his good form in the Ryman South, combined with his ability to close down players and to score goals come together & maybe he will show you & I & others what he has learned from those experiences.

He might well surprise you this time round.I know he certainly wont surprise me as I am full of confidence in him doing a good job for us this time given a regular run out if indeed he has signed & we haven't had confirmation that he has indeed signed as yet.

Surely ANY signing is a risk isn't it? There are no guarantees that even the best player will show his good form from elswhere at a new club. Torres is a prime example of that not to mention a few good players we have signed in the past who for whatever reason didnt show their true abilities here but then went onto other clubs & done exceedingly well.

Thats a bit different,in my opinion, besides he has had a few chances here & not impressed.Maybe Pullman will be a similar player who knows. I dont think however that he will let us down though but am open to comeback if he proves me wrong but lets give him a chance.Lets not knock him even before he gets on the pitch. Finally lets not forget we have a modest budget to contend with.

Every single member of team did well last night, including Dean G n Dan who came on at end, both giving little cameo performances. Kwesi exceptional but Tom won loads of headers last night, taking a few knocks too in process for the team!! Defence looked solid, apart from a mix up for their goal, Marc a revelation in midfield, Curtis looked a different player on left wing some great runs. Jack did everything he had too in goal, saving on line once. Wayne slotted in well too taking over from Richard who worked tirelessly as usual.

Roll on Saturday and lets hope the moaners keep off the players backs more than 5 minutes and the choir are allowed to sing again!!!

Well pleased at the result and wont detract from such by saying...... "Do that at home and we'll be right appy :)"

Like what i read BGA-especially aille in our problem area of midfiled.

I gess i'm in the V Pain camp re; Pulman; but Cookie does make valid points.

To be fair,Pulman should now at 27 be in his prime-and will have learnt a lot-so look forward to being overwhelmed by him (if indeed it is confirmed )

AS ever-the C - word comes up.

Can we be consistent.

For most teams, consistency means winning a few games on the trot.

I'd take just 2 to start with-last night and saturday.
