Think Bike?!

Recommended Posts

You could say them same for 'many car drivers'.

You're not a Taxi or mini cab driver by any chance Ralph?

Never had many problems with bike riders myself and sitting behind a female cyclist with a pert little bum in heavy traffic can be one of life's great pleasures. IMO the unsafest road users are tipper drivers, London cabbies, 4x4 and BMW drivers, and the most irritating of the lot has to be horse riders.

True - but then cars tend not to drive at high speed between vehicles on dual and single carriageways often in excess of the speed limit.

Sure we get some idiots driving, but if they crash they are unlikely to be killed.

I would also say that a much higher percentage of bikers are dangerous, compared to car drivers.

And no, I am not a cabbie - I worked for a bank.

Glad it is not just my car that suffers from these idiots.

Of course if they weave in and out and get hit, it is the motorist that gets the blame!

Mind you drove past a council placed large sign that simply said 'Think' the other day - why did I start thinking of women! LOL

I must admit I was thinking cyclists and not motor cyclists.. different thread for that one I suspect!

The only issue I have with cyclists is when they chose to cycle on the road, when there is a perfectly good cycle path alongside - why?

In Stevenage, it's because all the stupid single mums with their pushchairs walk on the cycle track!!

In most other places it's because the cycle track runs over all the dangerous drain covers!

Don't get me stated on bikes !!!!

Especially as that stupid bl00dy olympic bike race is routed through my home town of Dorking, and we residents are virtually banned from entry to the town for the day.

Even if I WAS interested in watching those twats in posing lycra 'Look-At-Me ! I'm Gorgeous' suits, I'd have to APPLY for a ticket to visit my own town.

When cyclists are compelled to pay road tax and third-party insurance, I might JUST have a bit more sypathy for 'em !!

As a motorist that also cycles I wouldn't agree on the road tax front but there should definitely be some kind of insurance requirement. Do any other countries have this requirement?

On the Olympic cycling issue, I thought it was free to view the road races?

How can they ban you from walking in the town - surely it is a public right of way?

It's in the form of a 'technical' ban for people living outside the town like me.

Having a bus-pass, I do not pwersonally own a car.

As the town-centre is effectively 'closed for the day, busses will not be able to run into town. The actual access routes into Dorking centre for cars are very limited, and will probably cause major jams outside town.

As its only for one day I would imagine most Dorking residents are fairly relaxed about it. In Romford (Havering) we will have to put up with a camp site being put on playing fields for around seven weeks. It wouldn't be so bad if a local organization like the scout movement could have run it, and taken a cut of the huge profits that will undoubtedly be made, but instead our council have handed it over to the camping club of GB, who will take all of the profits

. So much for Cameron's big Society.

Don't forget most agreements were put in place under the last government.

The decision to route the cycling event through Dorking would have been taken by the Olympic committee, possibly with the approval of Dorking Borough Council. The decision to allow camping on our playing fields was taken by the true blue London borough of Havering.

I fail to see what these matters have to do with the previous government.

I think it was more Surrey County Council rather than Mole Valley District Council !
