Guernsey FC players getting injured and jaded

There are a number of Guernsey players already out injured and also some are said to be getting a bit jaded. This has to be the effect of playing at a higher level, the travel involved and also the fact that they are still training and playing in the local (Priaulx) League.

Surely those that are playing regularly should cut back on their local appearances and traning and put all efforts into GFC and also ensure they have plenty rest.

It can't be fair that they play the off big game when it suits which means that other players just get pushed aside when the "stars" want to play?

It has also been reported that this weekend will see a much weakened team travelling to the UK.

Lastly, one local Club person has said there was a gentelmen's agreement that no more than four players from one club would be called up at once...

i have read a fair bit on the BBC Guernsey,GFC Web, and other forums and it does appear that Guernsey are going to struggle to field a half decent side this coming weekend.

This is due to Club commitments, injuries, family functions etc etc, So the Question is will Spelthorne Sports do what all other clubs want to do and beat Guernsey.

But im sure Spelthorne would rather beat a fully fit, available, Guernsey side as they did themselves proud on thier last meeting in only losing by the odd goal 0 -1.

Love the report in the Guernsey press about the South Kilburn game,GFC should of been down to 10 men by all accounts, but mistaken identity saved the day, poor old Tom Sawbridge took 1 for the Team.Even the pitch was criticised, maybe the truth is that their League sides are getting battered by the Toads.

Isn't it a 7 team league?

SURE IS.

The intensity of games like Saturday might be higher. Plus the travel will be taking it ouf of the players.

I love being in the CCL, just feel players are being a bit greedy.

If others played Priaulx football then the standard would rise, which can only be good for everyone.

There's only so much depth Guernsey can have, we knew this day would come when due to other club commitments and injuries etc etc they would have trouble fullfilling an away fixture with a full squad.

I truely believe that this weekend could be Guernsey's first loss of the campaign, Spelthorne Sports only lost 0-1 last time out they know what to expect and will be well up for it knowing Guernsey aren't at thier best, the smell of blood as they say.

We have good depth in our squad as our last result showed so I'm sure we can battle our way to another win.

Our guys showed great determination against South Kilburn to get the win when we had a bad day at the office

2 best squads ever at Staines Lammas and Guernsey.......lol !

Lets be fair GD you should have good depth in your squad as GFC have got the whole of Guernsey players to choose from !

By kill local football do you mean the Priaulx league?

That league is hardly thriving anyway with many very decent players choosing to play Sunday league & the Saturday equivalent rather than play Priaulx.

Some of the teams have in the last couple of years struggled to get teams together for games.

On the other hand there is 15 Saturday league and 7 Sunday league teams.

You forget Smudge knows all, especially at 2.33am!

One day he might even visit the Island

It is quicker to fly to gatwick for Guernsey than it is sometimes for us getting to Wembley FC midweek!!

I think its Glenn, which I think is Matt's nephew. But I may be wrong.

Its a very different squad today with a good 3 or 4 players involved who would be making their debut I beleive. Im not going to say its a weakened team, but its certainly one that wont have played together that much.

Come on you greens.
