Our referee this evening is being assessed by a SSML Referees Assessor - I'll found in the past that its never a good thing as they try to go over the top to impress.

That's one way of looking at it!

As a player you need to impress the manager so you try that bit harder. Manager is at every game so the players attitude is the same at every game.

As a Referee you need to impress the Assessor so you try that bit harder. When there isn't an Assessor then the mind set of the Referee changes.

Now if there were Assessors at every game............. :D

P-P AFC Dunstable v Tring Athletic (Bird nesting in floodlight)

Thats a funny excuse for a game to be called off! It's almost along the same lines as "our dog ate our footballs"

Yes I have to agree, when an assessor is present it's difficult to recognise some Referees as they are completely different from when they are not being assessed

Where will Mr Charlery be playing this season once his suspension is over?

Do you know Baron 'the Baron' Charlery then, I wasn't aware that he was suspended

The official view seems to be a floodlight failure. The bird nesting came via AFC Dunstable's twitter.

By all accounts the officials did well thus making it an highly entertaining affair for the paying customers

I would just like to thank the club's twitter services for allowing me to attempt to rival Jeff Stellings Sport Saturday.

It's very good work youre doing there Karen, keep it up!

As Town call AFC "The Cuckoos" and birds don't nest this time of year, it was probably a joke.

Wednesday 5th October

PREMIER DIVISION

2-2 Aylesbury United v Dunstable Town

A brief report on this one from another's Forum and the Aylesbury United website:

SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER

Aylesbury United 2-2 Dunstable Town

Attendance 145 Admission £3.50 (LTFC ST)

Typical derby game, very evenly matched with Dunstable taking the lead, falling behind and snatching a deserved draw. A fair result under the circumstances.

I meantioned in Tuesday's WDYG that some of the local pondlife climb over the railings at the bottom to get in. Seems they're now doing it for Aylesbury's games as well.

Tuesday 4 October

Premier Division

2-1 Hatfield Town v Harefield United

43

A report on this one from another's Forum:

Spartan South Midlands League Premier Divsion Hatfield v Harefield Result 2-1 Attendance 44 (headcount) Admission £6 Programme £1

Another champagne job for me as I completed the top iof this league again with a visit to the dreaded Gosling Stadium. Well signposted, although it took a few minutes to find the athletics stadium once on site. A useful tip for anyone who has not yet visited would be to go to the bar area and view the game from the balcony area at the front as I was encouraged to do by the gateman. This provides a panoramic view of proceedings, much higher up thsn from the stand and with no posts in the way either! The lights appeared particularly poor, probably as they are so far away from the pitch which was was mottled brown and bumpy which did not help the entertainment level. Mediocre fare throughout although Hatfield were much the better team in the second half and should have won the game long before their stoppage time winner. Hard to believe this was 2 levels higher than the game I saw at Bristol Academy last week.

Transitionperiod - What’s that ‘r’ though at the end of the title of the thread, I wonder if she will put up next Tuesday and Wednesday’s fixtures on Sunday or even tomorrow night.
