FA Cup Third Qualifying Round

Recommended Posts

Didn’t Welwyn Garden City also reach the Third Qualifying Round quite recently in 2007/2008 or 2008/2009 however due to an admin error by their then Secretary they were unceremoniously expelled from the competition for playing an unregistered or banned player

The club did reach the Third Qualifying Round in 2005-2006 losing 1-2 away to Histon. It was that same season the club reached the Fifth Round of the FA VASE defeating Newmarket Town in a replayed Fourth Round tie only to be removed from the competition for playing someone in the replay that had not been signed in time for the original game.

Yes, I expect that you were devastated to put it mildly, you would have travelled to Winchester City in a winnable Fifth Round tie, beaten Cammell Laird narrowly at Herns Lane in the Quarter Final, overcome Nantwich Town over two legs in the Semi Final and then met Hillingdon Borough in an all SSML Final at St Andrews:

I doubt that very much. The Dabbers played some unbelievably good football that season on the way to winning the trophy. That was the springboard that started their rise up the pyramid.

Reading between the lines of your post you appear to have a soft spot for Nantwich Town probably because of their close proximity to Crewe. You sing their praises and affectionately call them 'the Dabbers', you also asked me in a previous post who Hillingdon Borough lost to in the Vase final in 2006 which is another tell tale sign

What planet are you on???????

It clearly states on the left hand side of sjj2112's postings that he indeed does support Nantwich Town along with Crewe Alexandra and Ashford Town (Middlesex)

To be honest I never noticed that, I rarely, if at all, look at members personal details

I knew Sjj2112 followed Crewe but not Nantwich Town, no wonder he pricked up his ears when I mentioned them yesterday without realising that he had an interest in the Club. I assume that he used to live in the area once upon a time.
