FA Cup Third Qualifying Round

Recommended Posts

Dunstable Town's reward for their excellent win over Chesham United is a trip to Ryman League Division One North side Redbridge. The game takes place on Saturday 15th October.

That's certainly a winnable or drawable tie, Redbridge wouldn't like going back to Creasey Park for a replay

Winslow Boy - I don't know, Tring Athletic played Redbridge in a pre-season game at Cow Lane and got beat 8-2, perhaps they can let Dunstable Town have a Don Revie style dossier on them

Fair point Pre season results are not a great marker though and Chesh on paper are far stronger than redbridge in my humble opinion, paper never won a football match though! If I was at Dunstable I'd certainly put a call in to Tring but no doubt they'll get them scouted. Dean Brennan has got enough experience to lead them through was unlucky at Aylesbury in season they won the SSML Prem not to get to 1st round proper, blew a two goal lead to a young and Pacey Wealdstone side. As I say good luck to DTFC, I'd love to see an SSML side reach 1st round proper

I can't think it has unless Barton rovers did back in 80's as part of old south mids. Oxford City may have gone close????

Barton Rovers reached First Round Proper in 1980-81 but had been promoted from SSML to the Isthmian League in 1979.

Likewise Oxford City's record in reaching First Round Proper also came after their SSML days.

Oxford City may have gone close????

I remember Oxford City's season in the SSML in 2005/2006 as if it were yesterday and their battle for the Premier Division Championship with Hillingdon Borough who also reached the final of the FA Vase that season. I went to palatial Court Place Farm with Haringey Borough and we were treated like Kings and Lords put together.

Cracking set up at Oxford city. Spent a season following them in 90's. Shame they can't seem to attract proper sized gates or certainly that was the case last time I knew. KB loving your stato styleeeee. I wasn't far off though eh?? Lol

I would suggest Royston should be the side most likely to be able to achieve it. Aylesbury Vale/fc were so close I fancied them to have a go at the vase that year. Surely Royston must be thinking QFs Semis poss final??? Any other SSML left in Fa cup besides DTFC?

Never got to see Oxford City's ground, when we played them it was played at Abingdon Town FC and we lost 1-7, however did beat them 2-1 in the return at end of season.

I think St Mags made third qualifying round twice? Lost to Kettering and Stafford Rangers

Welwyn Garden City reached the Third Qualifying Round back in 1998-99. Eventually lost 0-3 in a replay at Ford United after a 2-2 draw at Herns Lane, a game that saw Ford United equalise deep into injury time. Ford United went on to play Preston North End away in the First Round Proper in front of a crowd of 10,167 (the biggest attendance in the First Round Proper)

Didn’t Welwyn Garden City also reach the Third Qualifying Round quite recently in 2007/2008 or 2008/2009 however due to an admin error by their then Secretary they were unceremoniously expelled from the competition for playing an unregistered or banned player
