Conference Football League

During todays match I heard if we had had to travel to Boreham Wood for a reply, our Gary House would not be allowed to take any pictures of the game , As he need to have a conference license !

What A farce , who do they think they are !

Also scouring the web sites of the Square Blue League , NOT a mention of the FA CUP at all on their fixtures or results ! They think of themselves as Elite I guess ...and the FA cup means nothing to them ! except when they get through to beat league opposition !

No Messageboard on the Boreham Wood web site ! nor much on the league web site !

To me they are having a laugh ... bloody elitist organization !

I agree Chris, it's the powers that be making up pointless rules in a vain attempt to help themselves feel important.

In any case, the same rules would also apply to me doing the videos.

Does anyone know if they are they Conference rules or FA rules?

Is this right ? Nathen and Gary do a fantastic job for Slough , and thats exactly that they do it for Slough ..not for commercial gain and the items appear on our web site ! What the hell they cant even mention the FA cup full stop !

As I stated Elitists ! Who do they think they are !

to be honest i was very angry to see they didn't bother adding Slough to their fixture list on their official website. Sorry but you are not man united of the conference south. We deserve a mention, actually we deserve more, we beat you so give us the credit and the report your fans deserve, well 10 of them that bothered to attend.

The rules are by the Conference League, apparently even on FA Cup matches under FA rules.

To take photos in that league you have to have a conference licence, and Liability insurance of £5m (costs around £50-£100)

You also have to be pitch side to take photos, none allowed from the stands, so it would stop Nathan as well !

oh, and hi-viz vests.

One further demand for getting this licence is proof that you have photos published (Which I do)

I believe you also lose your rights to the photos.

I know a few people who take photos at this level who have licences, and they say the rules are a great pain.

Basically the powers to be are trying to control the image rights of the league by stopping any photos that were taking without their consent.

Some good news though, I spoke to Mike swift (Observer photographer), and he will ensure I can take photos at these matches, as my photos are used in that paper when we play away games. So they should let me in as a press photographer.

Monday is going to be an interesting draw for me and Nathan

Slightly different but on the subject of controlling rights and employing over zealous tactics one of the Watford unofficial websites was closed down a few years ago for having the audacity to display the fixture list on their site. Lawyers for the football league contacted the company who hosted the site and had them close it down until they either removed the fixtures or paid an extortionate amount of moiney for the privilege to list fixtures.

There's an amsuing string of correspondence shown on the link below between the guys who ran the website and the league's legal team.

I believe that if we get into the competition proper and draw a Football League club, then anyone wanting to photograph and/or film the game will have to obtain a seperate licence, where they will have to prove that they have had material published in the national press (not the local press).

Its just another way for them to make money.

I have to say .. Dam them ..who the hell do they think they are ! We don't even get proper coverage of the FA cup until us the non league side knock out the big boys ..then they like us for making the FA cup for what it is !

What will happen if people dont go to football any more ? where will they get their money from ...

Football is for the millions of non League supporters who watch and play the game ..outside the pretty premership/ championship and now the conference ..

let the people be free to do as they please .. its our game !
