Just back from my first visit and what a day to go on. Their first time ever in the 2nd Qualifying Round, they are up against Step 4 side in Bideford, third in their division at present. They go one nil down JUST before half-time.

Doesn't sound does it?

Second half they score one excellent goal and then a penalty as Bideford's discipline starts to waver. The last 15 minutes or so were nerve-wracking but they got there and the celebrations on the final whistle were excellent to be a part of.

Lovely little club and I hope they get a fantastic draw in the next round.

Great team performance but stand outs for me were:

Lee Allen - young GK who held his nerve after making the mistake for the Bideford goal as he came under a fair bit of pressure towards the end.

Martin 'Willo' Williams - calm and assured in midfield as you'd expect from an ex-League player.

Jermaine Hamilton - scored both goals, the first an exquisite chip.

Daryl Bloxham - and 'blocks 'em' he certainly does. Won everything today - and my MOM.

We still have fond memories of HW from our CCL days.

We all love big Geoff

we all love big Nev now...

Never looked liked we were playing a side two leagues above us, in fact thought we were drawn into playing the long ball like them in the first half. Should have killed the game off with a couple of good chances towards the end.

So looking forward to the draw on Monday and the chance to play at one of the big boys.

Thanks to all the well-wishers today before and after the game.

The CCL is looking good, the future is Orange.

Been looking at the Bideford Forum and chose this one to post....

I also made the 340 mile round trip today.

Yes, the pitch was narrow and sloping, not ideal for Biddys wide boys, but the same for both teams.

Yes, the officials were very poor, and got several decisions wrong, which always seemed to be the ones that affected us. But at the end of the day, it was down to a very poor display by the lads on and off the pitch. HW were no better than their league standing suggested, but were made to look far better by our poor performance. The second half, we ressembled headless chickens, running around not knowing what to do next.

Their first goal was a school boy error by our centre half, and the second, a dubious penalty. But they also hit the post and had one cleared off the line. Our goal was a through a mistake by their keeper, I cannot remember their keeper having to make a worth while save, we just never tested him.

Lets hope we can put this down to a one off and move on to the next league game, and pick up where we left off in our last league game.

So chuffed we didn't have to get to there place on a Tuesday night for a replay. We will make lots of better sides look ordinary, always like teams blaming their own performance and never look at the opposition who stop them playing. :D
