Enfield Town vs Romford

Not much to shout about in the first half but a cracking goal just after half time sealed the win.

We look so much better when we have wide attacking players, especially when we know we have the pace to get behind defences.

Just for Steph. Very consistent performance by the man in the middle?

Agree. Wide attacking players created a lot,

BUT,

there is nobody central to finish off these moves.

OH how we need a goal scoring centre forward to provide the end product to all this good play.

There must be someone out there that could do the job for us.

OT I am sure this won't have escaped the attention of Steve Newing. Now that Stuart B is no longer with us, think it is very likely Steve will bring in a new striker to freshen things up and strengthen the squad.

I was thinking more about players in other leagues who are scoring goals and obviously know where the net is.

Like a bloke who scored 25 goals last season in a struggling Spartan League team for example?

Yep, that's it !!

I am sure goals will come for Dan, but he needs to improve his overall play and certainly his first touch.

He gives 100% and has been unlucky not to have scored in the last couple of games, but I still think we need someone who has a bit more pace.

Time will tell.

I am certainly not negative about Dan, I just don't see us finishing all the chances we are creating with the current players.

It's all about opinions.

Okay OT, just pointing out that Steve's network seems to pick up on these sorts of players from time to time. As to our own forward line, I'm not sure whether we need a new striker to put the ball in the net, or a midfield that gives better service to the ones we already have.

Discuss....

Yer okay Andy.

What has happened to our scouting for players system ?

I know where the net is as I regularly stand behind it! :D

Stuart Blackburn gone?

We do have fine forwards who are strong and very tactically astute who can physically make their presence felt. However, I do think if we can find a nimble, quick footed, turn on a sixpence, fox in the box type of striker with a proven eye for goal we would be adding a very important ingrediant to our forward line.

However, that comes with having to identify someone who will fit in with the current playing style and cost a few quid as well. I know that we don't have much money to add to the current budget due to the ground costs, so from where i'm sitting it's make do with what we have (which like i've said is good anyway), I think when Daniel Ailey nets one or two he'll get many more goals.

As for our scouting net work-well, I know we have supporters with holiday homes in portugal, spain, Turkey and North Cyp, but that does'nt come with scouting for players. As always, new players come to the attention of managers at our level through whispers in the circles or when they play against us.

I personally see Sam Newsom as an ideal addition to our strike force, a proven scorer, quick footed and current leading marksman in the league. But could he move from Needham to ETFC? would we have that kind of finance? It's unlikely.
