I don't normally post on here, just generally enjoy reading it. However couldn't help but mention the fact that after the constant abuse on here by a so called Slough town supporter ( you know who you are ) regarding one of steve batemans FAVOURITES. I thought that particular FAVOURITE had a great game yesterday filling into a position he doesn't normally play in and scored a magnificent goal.

Reading through this topic I have failed to read anything positive from this ' so called slough fan ' regarding any of the FAVOURITE'S. It just seems that posts are only made from this 'fan' when someone has had a bad game and a dig is needed which is not what I thought this forum was for.

Anyway absolutely fab result yesterday great team performance against a side 2 leagues above, (not that you could tell)

Bring on the draw monday.

Notwithstanding some people's abuse of certain players irrespective I think yesterday demonstrated why Swifty can be frustrating at times. Yesterday he was brilliant playing out of position and scored a superb goal. We just need that elusive consistency!

The supporter you are referring to is entitled to his opinion and it makes for good debate... He/she pays his admission fee and if he/she wants to voice something that is not particularly constructive then that's their choice, it's a discussion forum, not everything has to be positive... We don't live in a dictatorship where we all have to conform to the same view!!!

Hang on, where is the personal abuse???? To me, personal abuse is something completely different to what was written about Bateman's supposed favourites...

Anyway, let's just stop, not start an argument and enjoy the results we are getting at the moment... Very proud to be a Rebel at the moment!!!

Hear, hear,Cookham ! As I'm one of those who often voices my opinion honestly and have in the past moaned about Sean Sonner and Paul Coyne's questionable temperaments. I thought I must come on here and praise their recent performances which have been incredible and credit where credit is due, they were superb yesterday.Either one deserved Man of the Match.

Also well done Steve B and Fred for getting the tactics, formation, personnel and substitions spot on for the game. No offence to Steve Sinclair but Charlie Mpi played a blinder and surely must start against North Greenford. His pace and determination proved to be the catalyst for such a brilliant performance by the whole Slough side.Stuart Swift also deserves a mention for a worthy effort at left back and a sublime free kick that lead to our first goal.

A thoroughly deserved victory and now having competition for a places in the team we are finally seeing the best from ALL the players.Long may that continue.

Team spirit is at a high and if the players can stop arguing amongst themselves when things aren't going so well, I think we have the best chance of being promoted since Steve Bateman's arrival.

I had my rant in pre-season and now I'm being made to eat my words, and you know what, I am pleased I am being proved wrong, the management and squad have it bang on at the moment and we won't play well every game but the positive is massively out weighing the negative at the moment.... I have a good good feeling that not only promotion looms but we could probably end this season as Champions if we play our cards right!!!

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!

I stayed at the shed end for the second half, and Swift put in some great tackles that probably affected the great result more than his free kick, so special praise to him.

We certainly looked knackered by the end of the game, not surprising in the heat, lets hope the team arn't drained for Tuesday night. I do like an FA Cup run, and a really good FA cup run (beating league opposition) probably means more to me than promotion.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see Perkins, Brown, Byrne, Mpi and Abbey start on Tuesday, plus Murphy will be back, just because of the physical drain from the heat yesterday.... It's a squad game after all and I think Sinclair will sit out the next 2-3 weeks following the recurrence of his hamstring injury!!!

New Rebel - Yes the Favorite boy did at last play well yesterday - but it is now the 12th game of the season and a change of position was required to achive this.

Looks like he may of learnt to keep his mouth shut and work as part of a team - long may this continue.

As for the game, a true FA cup match with pleanty of action - but the hard work from the Slough players paid off.

SUTR you mention about swifty's mouth can i ask why that is a problem with you as most of the team moan,

also swift has been one of our better players this season.

I don't want to start slagging off players after a such a good result and performance (and indeed a good performance from the subject player), but I feel I ought to point out I think we all wish Swift could play like he did yesterday in the league more often.

In both the Banbury and Daventry games, Swift make mistakes by losing the ball that both led directly to opposition goals. Generally he doesn't track back or chase down balls anywhere near as often as he should. Indeed, at the Rugby game, he looked like he didn't want to be there!

But enough of that. Swift has shown he can do it against opposition from 2 levels above. There's no reason he can't do the same at our level.

Come on Swifty, show us what you're made of!!!

I think SUTR is referring to players who get booked for dissent more than others but that has improved this season with less yellows for dissent...

In the first half yesterday, Coyne and Sonner had a right slanting match but I don't mind that as it was over the the Boreham Wood centre backs having to much time on the ball, if you want success these things happen!!!

regarding the bookings side of it there are 8 other players with as many or more yellow cards as Swifty, as SB dont change the side that much that is most of the team.

as for not back tracking in the Daventry game, NO player can track back every time. He lost the ball inbetween the halfway line and there area so were was the rest of the midfield and deffence.

Thought Swift had an excellent game particularly as he played most of it at left full back rather than as a wing back as originally intended. I had been concerned that we had no suitable cover for Murphy at full back but Swifty showed he can do the job admirably and the free kick was sublime. The second two efforts he had from free kicks were incredibly unlucky as players broke from the wall to charge them down before he had struck the ball.

Sonner was immense, his workrate and passion are second to known and got a well deserved goal.

Awesome performance just would like a favourable draw!
