Maybe I should give up?

Smudge, you are full of bollox, since when do you decide what referees can referee a game and which ones can't.No wonder many clubs lower down the footballing pyramid are having games cancelled because there simply isn't the referees available to take charge, reason = people like smudge.

If the player was that bad the players of his team would of kicked up enough fuss for the ball to be kicked out, perhaps this player has previous for play acting.

As for bookings, they don't just give out cards for a laugh, there is usually back chat which sometimes referees miss but cards are usually justified albeit sometimes harsh

Mewey you will go far as a Ref,and an orator, luckily yes it never turned out as a serious injury, but who is to say that if this Plank of a Ref,does similar again, someone may not even die.I am sure you would find others to blame, like rule 34. Section g para 67.WE ARE all HUMAN AFTER ALL.go with the status quo, everything in the garden is rosey. My take is it is better to be safe, than sorry after the event.

And that is why our country is going to [****!!****]. Way to much PC crap around. In the old days, how many players died on the pitch? How many times did the ref blow the whistle because someone had broken a nail? Now the threat of being sued for not protecting etc etc is too large, which is why the stupid [****!!****] rule came in in the first place.

If a player is badly injured the opposition will kick it out, pure and simple. Someone near to the injured player would be shouting at the teammates to kick it out.

Let the refs ref. Yes some of them are cack. So are some plumbers, so what? You take the rough with the smooth and beggars can't be choosers. So unless we are suddenly inundated with refs to the point that the FA can really pick and choose, we are stuck with what with have. Although to be fair, I did apply for a refs course a few years back 3 or 4 times and never got a response, so recruitment needs a lot of work.

P.C. CRAP,UTTER BOLLOX,ALLEGATIONS OF LYING,AND SOME TONGUE IN CHEEK COMMENTS FROM KROONS.

Fact:- I was there were you,it was my Grandson laying on the floor in a prone position for over a minute. Not that it would of made any difference to who it was,the Referee should of stopped play immediately.

Fact:- Kroons remark re: Players kicking the ball out,Croydon Players could not get near the ball, and Horley were losing 1-0,not in their interests to do so,good job in hindsight they scored.

Fact:- Spent 3 hrs down A & E,X-Rays,Result small crack to Jawbone, and Mild Concussion.

Fact:- In hindsight maybe my Grandson should not of played anymore, but as Croydon had used all their 3 Subs,he stayed on.

Will tell you this though,if I am ever at a game again and an incident like this happens to any Player,I Will take action myself,by invading the pitch, and suffer the consequences. The Ref should take a long hard look at himself,he failed miserably.

I will agree with you on this one the ref should have stopped play straight away.

Smudge, your whole take on this and the fact that it turns out to have been your grandson just goes to show that some of the most dangerous people watching games at any level are parents & relatives of players.

They cause problems in youth football and problems in non league football, thankfully higher up than that it is usually too difficult to have their say but I bet they try.

Football is a fckng mans game,it's a contact sport and I am sure many including myself have suffered more serious injuries on the pitch than your grandson and not had our relatives bleating over it,man the fck up,there was obviously no danger and you are slating a referee who gives his spare time up to officiate games for your enjoyment, for personal reasons, you are a danger to football at times!

Smudger ... I hope ur grandson is ok... However one of my pet hates is cheats and when the ball hits someone on the leg and the player holds his face and rolls around or when playesrs hold their face as if been hit by a cricket bat when not even touched will you still be running on the pitch. I feel that ...yes the ref should stop play but it would help the refs if there were not so many cheats so they could make a decision on fact rather than fiction..

Many Players also give up their spare time to play as well, else there would be no Football to watch. Many do not get paid, unlike Refs who are paid.Do not think you have watched many games lately,if at all,the contact element has been taken out of the game.

What's with all the animosity and ill tempered posts towards one another it's getting ridiculous and if I'm honest makes boring reading for us supposed GOLD MEMBERS. Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion without being slated or ridiculed for it. Can I make a suggestion if I may without getting abused?!?

If anybody would like to have a barny or slagging match

Either

Start a different thread

Or

Meet and settle it like gentlemen, take that anyway u feel

Kind regards

Agree entirely Pagey.

This forum has gone downhill alarmingly in the last few months and it's noticeable that some former regular posters seldom contribute anymore, which is a shame.

Weeble,of course I will not, there were 2 examples the other night where players kicked the ball out,so a player could receive treatment, once by each side.Applauded by me I must say.Sadly in this case they did not.

Perhaps this is where the moderators could exercise some form of management of posts? I don't mean editing the content of posts but remaining objective and impartial so that when they do need to intervene to ensure a thread stays 'on subject' it's respected by all involved.

Posters would do well to remember too that while they're entitled to their opinion, that's better expressed in a reasoned and well-informed post, if possible backed up by facts or references, rather than simply a knee-jerk reaction that simply adds little or nothing to the thread and only contributes to it descending into a slanging match.

I am a moderator on my own clubs forum, not on here.

Think some of you need to stop being so bloody precious, you are fans of football not netball, things get heated it's a passionate game, unfortunately on here you have someone who constantly moans about this or that and gets peoples backs up,what exactly have I said apart from calling smudge a prat (which I think he is at times)that's so vicious??

I blame Pagey for this :)

My point Smudge is that by the account you give the referee should have stopped play and you were none too pleased that he didnt. At no point have you had a pop at the Horley players for not kicking it out either (Not a go at Horley before I get gunned down by Juppy) which for me does water down your case :)

And like I say I blame Pagey.

Smudge, firstly I am sorry to hear your Grandson got hurt. Hope he is soon on the mend.

To try and remain objective whilst posting about someone you love is very difficult. I think you should have said he was your Grandson to start with....

Was it only the other week you were saying how good this referee was? Referees have good and bad games, just like players. With hindsight he made a mistake, but he probably made less mistakes then any of the players.

Problem these days is too many players copy their Premier League hero's and feign injury. If the referee stopped the game for every injury players would soon get wise and abuse this. harsh, but true.

I think this post has had enough interest now.

Like I said Smudge I hope Terry is ok.

But If any Horley player would of honestly thought he had a bad injury including myself we would of put the ball out.

To be honest All the Croydon players were trying to waste time, to stop us playing football and thats also why in the end your forward got sent off because it was our free kick, he walked off with the ball and I shoved him to get the ball off him and he decided to grab me around the throat. He was lucky to only get a second yellow he should of got a straight red so the ref did you a favour there.
