Truro City

There's probably a shady backstory to the Truro situation but I have to say that I fear the next 5 years is going to see an absolute decimation of the Non-League clubs bankrolled by benefactors.

In fact I suspect half the League 2 teams will become semi-professional. There's just not going to be the money around for clubs to carry on like this. In times of recession a few clever / opportunistic individuals make a fortune but many more lose one. And this one is going to be extended for a long time which means many ordinary folk who can currently spend £20 a week + travel + grub at lower league footie just won't do it anymore.

I'm pretty sure there will be a fair few more clubs failing by the end of next season.

Don't think the Greek position is helping matters. Having said that, I've never tried the Greek position !!

Great post Rother, one of the most sensible I have read for a very long time. IMO far to many people who are involved with non league clubs seem to be burying their heads in the sand and for a lot of clubs it may be to late for them before these people wake up. For a long time now I have felt the only solution is for two or perhaps three clubs to pool their resources and merge to form a "super-club" which would still retain the DNA of the former clubs.

If radical action is not taken soon then your prediction of absolute decimation will almost certainly become a reality, and future generations of supporters will be deprived of ever watching their local team because of ridiculous tribal pride.
