Midweek Fixtures & Results - 27/28 September

Full time

Wodson 3 3 Langford

Langford were 2 up, wodson scored 3, and Langford saved a point in the dying minutes.

6 goals so value for money but dreary game to be honest. Both sides happy to pump the ball long and hope for the best. Not one for the purist but all in all, a fair result.

A report on this one from last night from another's Forum:

Wednesday 28 September 2011 – Spartan South Midlands Premier

AFC Dunstable (blue/blue/white) 3 – 3 Stotfold (amber/black/black) Attendance: xx

This was a chance to catch up with BJ Christie again. He really was a handful against Eton Manor in the FA Cup last month. The last time I was at Creasey Park the ground looked like a building site. Most of the construction work is now completed and an oversized log cabin has sprung up on the far touchline. Mr Buck was also in attendance, cracking jokes about all and sundry. He observed quite correctly that Carlos Tevez was not playing here either? AFC Dunstable ran the show for the first half and should have had a comfortable lead. Stotfold were lucky to be level at half-time and conceded two goals early in the second period. A fight back from Stotfold was not envisaged, but they clawed their way back into the game and levelled the scores with a gift from the home team. A long punt upfield from Stotfold’s goalkeeper bounced once and was back headed by an AFC Dunstable defender over the head of his own goalkeeper. It’s good to see Watford’s tactics are copied the world over. Man of the Match: Glen Lamacraft (Stotfold)

Rhodes, Kentish town were beaten by the better side on the night. Good entertaining game with plenty of good football and goalmouth incident, result a fair reflection of the game, which an inept officiating team tried their best to ruin. (the only saving grace is they were equally poor for both teams). This is the first time I have seen Kentish town they are a good mix of youth and experience and will trouble a few sides with their energy and speed.

@Jonno there are very few teams who dont just pump the ball now. Its puke football and it is played by I would say 50% of SSMLPrem teams, and 60% of SSSML Div1 team. Long balls are great if directed, have a watched a few games this year and I did think I was watching rugby at times

In years gone by it was unheard of for Amersham Town to beat Kentish Town particularly in their own back yard, okay I recall you beat them at Spratley's Meadow early on in the season they were promoted but I don't believe Lee Scott was playing that day. With the demise of Sport London e Benfica and Brache Sparta's relegation it must be nice not to be the whipping boys of Division 1 as everyone, particularly Doog is King, anticipated you would be.

Eric had missed the Barkingside supporters who arrived with the players on the coach, so the attendance was only counted for those who paid.

Ref Off Ref - But surely Barkingside brought more than 8 fans with them last night, the eight being the number of free passes allowed to the visiting Club, the rest would have had to pay

You friggin pedant! How would you know about attendances over 30 anyway?

I can just picture you dealing with an away team coach arriving 90 minutes before ko time! - 30 assorted people disgorge and head for the players' entrance. Rhode "excuse me, who are players and management and which 8 of you have comp tickets? The rest of you must pay me!" Yeh, right!

Incidentally, the 8 only applies to the League, FA comps away side can ask for more!

Rhodes I suggest you go watch Amersham Town, reports have reached me that they have a good set-up over there and are certainly a useful side this season.

Once again a clear case of engaging brain before opening mouth (oh hang on you need to have a brain first).
