Hanwell Town 1 v Holmer Green 2

We played [censored] [censored] and deserved to lose the game Sean Lucian scored our goal to put us 1 0 up just before half time but to be honest we never looked like we were going to win the game Holmer Green were by far the better team. Sean Lucian did ok in the first half and Keiran Jimmy did well to keep the score down. To many of our players did not look up for it this eve and thats a worry and quite a few of our players dont look good enough to be playing at this level of football also whatever was said to our players at half time made no difference as we were crap in both halves of the game tonite which is also a worry. :(

Seen comments from both Brox and St Mags people berating the ref, seems at least he was bad both ways!

Tuesday 27 September

Premier Division

3-1 Tring Athletic v Hatfield Town

A report on this one from another's Forum:

Tuesday 27 September 2011

Spartan South Midlands Premier

Tring Athletic (red/black/black) 3 – 1 Hatfield Town (blue/white/white)

Attendance: 65

On a mild evening I stopped at The Three Horseshoes, Winkwell, to wet my thirst and just as well, because I witnessed one of the best games of the season. Tring Athletic were off the mark after three minutes, as Stuart King beat the visitor’s goalkeeper on his near post. Hatfield Town had a more measured approach, but worked an equaliser on 31 minutes. Hatfield Town’s left-winger skinned the home right-back and sent over the perfect cross to be turned in by Jason Caswell. The football on offer was entertaining and chances for both teams came and were missed. However, Tring Athletic’s two second half goals both came from the penalty spot and were rammed home by David Wicker. The second penalty was given away by Hatfield Town’s central defender, Richard Cooke, who up to that point hadn’t put a foot wrong. However, he couldn’t cope with three raiding forwards, then unluckily found he was the last man. Hatfield Town played the last few minutes with ten men, with Mr Cooke absent. Man of the Match: Richard Cooke (Hatfield Town)

FA Vase Second Qualifying Round Replay

1-0 Ampthill Town v Barkingside

A brief report from another's Forum, refreshing to see that Ampthill aren't milking their FA Vase run and it was only a fiver to get in:

Ampthill Town 1-0 Barkingside

FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round replay, admission £5 inc programme, att: 62

A very pleasant ground set in a wood on the outskirts of Ampthill. All very tidy and a good view from the only cover which is set up on a bank on the far side. This is the first ground I've done that includes a rotary clothes airer complete with washing!

We looked to be destined for a 0-0 and extra time until Ampthill snatched a late winner. A very even match that kept the interest, Barkingside just edged the 1st half and as the match went on Ampthill became the stronger. Barkingside's front line movement was poor though and was reflected in the amount of times they were caught offside. An enjoyable game on an extremely balmy evening.

Tuesday 27 September

Premier Division

2-1 Harefield United v Leverstock Green

A report on this surprise result from another's Forum:

Harefield United 2 Leverstock Green 1

SSML Premier Division

£6 inc adequate prog att: 69

Absolute quality night out. Nice pint in a pub opposite the village green and then a walk down to the ground where I got a warm welcome from the turnstile operator/PA man.

Excellent clubhouse but sadly no handpumps, but nevermind.

Levy Green came into the game having won all 10 league games, whereas Harefield seemed to have picked up over the last few weeks. Maybe some new signings? Smashing ground with very large lush playing area.

First half was nip and tuck without any real stand out chances. Levy keeper C Tasker made a great save right on half time. It would have been hard for a fan to walk in off the street and decipher which team had which record before kick off.

Second half The Hares looked the more likely of the two. J Arthur was causing the visiting defence all kinds of problems and it was no surprise when player coach Ben Cowen put them ahead with a fine header.

Levy were awarded a penalty for handball when the ball skidded on the dewy pitch and hit the defenders trailing arm. Lee Bircham, the Levy skipper and brother of Marc Bircham put the spot kick away. Incidentally Kevin Gallen was also listed in the programme for Levy, but didn't appear. After the goal the visitors showed real signs of their previous form and looked like they would take the spoils.

However, Harefield brought on sub Robert Prvevorsk who ran with the ball at pace and took the pressure off and created opportunities. The Levy keeper flapped at one cross and then a few minutes later made a late challenge and gave away a penalty which was put away by Liam Sonner.

The game opened up in the last few minutes but there was no further scoring.

Top marks to all the players and fans including a couple of very vocal chain smoking Hares. The PA man could hardly conceal his joy when reading out the scorers. Most of all, top marks to the ref A Williams. He was a young un but used common sense, especially with his lack of showing cards, and I thought his decision making was top drawer.

Absolutely brilliant night in a lovely place. Would have given it 10/10 if the clubhouse had handpumps!

Spot on! Got to apologise for that woeful display, i can understand a bad touch or pass but not putting in the effort isnt good enough! Holmer Green definitely wanted it more. Plenty of problems i could pick out but I'd be here all day. We need to improve & players need to start taking responsibility otherwise we'll be in a right mess come Christmas. Gotta pick ourselves up and put in a good display Saturday. Cant wait!!!

True and True!

We need a Mo Harkin type player in the centre of midfield and a couple of quicker centre backs and couple of new fullbacks to be honest. Our defending has been rubbish this season we looked in trouble every time Holmer Green attacked last night and our subs that came on last night had nothing to offer they might aswell have stayed on the bench. To lose and play the way we did last night against a team that was bottom of the league is not good enough simple.

Goodluck for Saturday Spencer

Haha Rhodes, you know how the head count works.....Eric had missed the Barkingside supporters who arrived with the players on the coach, so the attendance was only counted for those who paid.

Including the fact our ressies turned up to show their support doubt they were included in the 62 either, rough guess 80-90 odd last night.

Ref Off Ref - But surely Barkingside brought more than 8 fans with them last night, the eight being the number of free passes allowed to the visiting Club, the rest would have had to pay
