Why Not Jersey ?

A quick question to any GFC posters who know:

Why Have Jersey not Joined the Non League Pyramid ?

Now Given The success of Guernsey FC the question has to be raised why Jersey have not taken this journey along with GFC.I'm fully aware that the Directors and backroom staff did a lot of hard work to get GFC where they are today and that its not a 2 minute process.

Given that ,how long would it take them if they decided to go down that route 2/3 years longer i don't honestly have a scooby, and given Guernsey's form they won't be hanging around the CCL too long and thats no disrespect to other clubs as for those who have played them would agree i would say.

From what i have read the two Islands at the end of each season have a highly charged derby game called the Murratti Vase in which Jersey seem to always come off the better and as with there Inter Insular Cup's as well.

I have put on my Anorak and have found out the following, for those who don't know Guernsey's Top Division is called the Priaulx League and there are 7 teams who contest it playing each other 3 times without the chance for teams to be promoted to it or relegated from.

Surely Guernsey will benefit from this venture massively because

1, The team will play 34 league games and what ever cup compo's through out the season so depending on injuries should have a team that Gel together very well.

2, No matter what anyone says playing in the CCL1 has to be better oppo than playing the same players week in week out in thier Priaulx League.

3, Will the Murratti have the same meaning to them come May after a long season.

They have something simular with Rugby Union in the Channel Islands, Jersey joined the English league some years before Guernsey did and the gulf between them is imense as i believe Jersey are virtually a Professional outfit, will it be the same for Football ?

Vrfc, as far as I am aware, the powers that be in Jersey football would rather take their team down the international route and affiliate with FIFA rather than the FA. Much like the Faroe Isles. I believe that this option brings far greater financial rewards, and would have less impact on the local leagues. They are currently in the process of organising a small nations tournament I believe.

Jersey are by all accounts a better side and would go straight into the ryman league

I wouldn't of thought any team of the standard of the Channel Islands would go straight in to the Ryman, I mentioned Jersey Beating Guernsey on more occations in thier Murratti's but apprently they are very close in terms of Quality.

This years Muratti was won by Jersey, last years by Guernsey. This year we had a far better team and the 1-0 scoreline was a travesty in my opinion.....historically Jersey have been better but right now I think Guernsey are much the better side.

Edit - Having said that i believe one of the Jersey players has signed for Accrington Stanley this season.

I know quite a bit about this but will keep this brief.

Jersey have always felt they are better than guernsey. Laughed when guernsey entered the southwest counties league. Then couple of years later they joined too. They have for the last few years had plans to join UEFA as a nation. But my reading of the rules says they can't. Ever since Gibraltar joined or tried to join the rules have changed to stop non nations from joining. Now you need to be recognised as a nation by the united nations before you can join.

I predict that as per usual jersey will let guernsey do all the donkey work and then join the non league structure in a few years.

Jersey are a good team, not much between them and guernsey. Guernsey have maybe edged it in the last 2 years but you have to remember that vincenti, Guthrie and pitman are playing league football, whereas guernsey do not have anyone playing at the moment. Vincenti and Guthrie are good players but would not dominate guernsey, for example vincenti and heaume used to go head to head and match each other. I think that shows the standard some of the channel island footballers could be playing at.

As to the route chosen by jersey, I don't know the rules but I don't think it is practical on a non professional level, as travelling to play other small nations will involve a lot more than a day trip to the uk. Also the games will not be as regular. Rumours were that sporting bet was going to offer to back jersey if guernsey didn't take up the opportunity. Thank god we did!

Here we go again, smudge posting crap, like guernsey players being paid! Fact is they ain't! If the club were not trying to keep a close grip on finances why do they insist on the away weekend League games being a day trip that includes players getting up at 5am for the 7am flight to gatwick?
