Windsor v Shrivenham

Oh dear, this is getting ridiculous.

I'm sure we all appreciate the huge efforts made by the Committee and financial outlay made by Kevin Stott in particular but if we can't get these floodlights to work there must be a very real danger of the club not fulfilling the fixtures.

What moves are we going to make to avert that potential disaster?

Is somebody accountable?

I have no idea how these things work but is it a real possibility that we will be kicked out of the League soon?

Sounds a bit drastic but he is not a bottomless pit for this venture so surely if Kevin has to cut the wages to nothing so he can put the budget into fixing this problem once and for all then that's what he'll have to do.

I just want to see the club playing football and whilst we all want success on the pitch if the money's not there to keep this squad going and play under floodlights then the existing squad will have to be cut / terminated.

I think we need to be told what the plans are right now.

Quite agree Rother! Kevin Stott cant be expected to keep pumping money into the club for this that and everything! The lights will have to be sorted for us to stay in the league!! If that means cutting the playing budget then so be it!!

Absolutely.I could be speaking out of turn here, but a few things else could be done as well.

I was informed it was a fuse problem again and not the generator.Would it be an idea to say during a day to have the lights on for a normal match duration with electrical engineers then being on site to fix the problem?

Or a full inspection of the fuse boxes and upgrade them as I would have thought they were many many years old?

Or have a standby electrician(with fuses) for a few midwek games?

My concern is also the clocks change and these lights will be needed as early as 3.30pm most Saturdays.apart from midweek.

As for tonight,I would think its in the Berks & Bucks committee hands, but I personally think we dont have a right for a replay,

As far as the "electricity situation" is concerned, I would like to draw attention to the article that Ian Lucas wrote for the Dorking programme. Matt Stevens also forwarded this via the Supporters Club e-mail distribution list.

In response to Chrismb, a fsuccessful 2 hour ull load test of the lights was undertaken before the recent Allied Counties Youth match. I am no electrician or engineer so the best I can do is speculate. What I do know though is that every effort will be made to ensure that next Monday nights game against Chessington & Hook is played to a conclusion.

I don't think anyone would doubt the efforts being put into finding a solution to this problem, but if it isn't resolved within the very near future I would imagine there is a very real possibility that the league might lose patience and kick us out?

Or am I being too melodramatic here?

Whatever, people WILL stop going to games which will be be a mini disaster in itself.

Worse case scenario I'm guessing would be the league enforcing a 1.30/2.00 kick of on Saturdays and any scheduled midweek games moved back to the end of season or possibly switched with the opposition.

It's rather ironic that half our lights provided more illumination than all of the lights at our game last Tuesday yet it's us that are deemed to have a problem.

We all know the problem, we all know the solution, we haven't all got £25k to spare and that's the crux of the matter. I personally think Kevin would be foolish to front that money up until certain other guarantees are in place but even if we find the money there's a 12-week build time for the work to be done.

I know it's embarrassing for our supporters and even more so for me having to write to the league, county, FA, whoever to explain the situation but at least for the first time we do actually have an answer rather than being fed bullsh1te about O2 stealing our electricity and how much we're sueing them for.

Rest assured we're exploring every avenue of securing funding or reducing the overall cost of the project by astute project management but until then we have to grin and bear it.

I should add that I'll no doubt be spending considerable hours in the company of Trevor the floodlight man this afternoon, seeking to gain an answer to the problem, as whilst I know a fuse has gone we now need to know why because if it's the same one that was replaced last week then that should have lasted for years which would indicate a cabling issue - this could mean a burnt cable somewhere or a punctured cable underground ! As you see it's not a case of just changing a fuse like you do at home it all gets very complicated trying to track down any problems.

At the end of the day though we DO have to get it sorted sooner rather than later and I'm certain Kevin will have something to say publicly about it fairly soon - again ironic that one of Kevin's original ideas was to not play this season but take a season out to get everything absolutely right before we started again but passionate pleas from a number of supporters swayed him to starting up again immediately. I wonder how many of those who pleaded with him at the time are the ones calling him and everyone else involved at the club all number of names for our current [no pun intended] predicament ?

If they are then they are a right bunch of currents.

Ermm, not great but we had 3 or 4 youngsters playing who have not featured before and we were only 1 down so it would be churlish to moan about the performance. (And Kyle Anthony and Brandon Blair were our front pairing.)

The "unknowns" showed some nice touches and awareness at times but the main areas where they lack when playing against older heads are strength and belief. They just get out-muscled too easily so things break down when they get the ball. But good experience for them and one would hope they can progress with Windsor as they get bigger and stronger.

I see the Observer gave MOTM to Chris Gibson last night - "looked composed and confident in central midfield on debut despite his youth".

I guess he did look a little more at home last night which was good to see but MOTM is pushing it a bit and as for Debut...?

Oh well, good old Observer...

There are a couple of positives from last night:

The pitch looked superb and strangely enough when the lights were on they looked very good, far better than most I have seen over recent years!

Maybe that was the problem, Paul

Too many positives and not enough negatives.

Might be an idea to get the terminals sorted out !

:bolt:

I appreciate that Windsor Sec has explained the situation in a previous thread but I do think their should be an official apology from the club to supporters on another wasted evening. Im I right in thinking we have a General Manager and a Head of Media Relations, If so surely one of them should be able to get out a statement the following day ie today.....(We seem to be able to get the excuses out quickly for why we may loose the next game, maybe that highlights our priorities and there in lies the problem).

I completly agree with Rother, if money is an issue cut the budget and spend the money on something that will benefit the club in years to come. We not going to win the league now and get promoted so as long as we do enough not to get relegated then im sure people will be happy.
