Officials

I know we have had a couple of threads about the officials but thought I would start a kind of official, officials thread.

I would like to start by saying that the three officials at the GFC v SFC game were excellent yesterday, well done chaps.

Referee : Andy Connor

Assistant : Ian Hempel

Assistant : Stephen Earl

Great to hear a manager (or player) say officials were good when they just lost big time. Well done chris.

Bommie, I am Assistant Manager/still available if needed. The officials had no influence on the result :D

Going by that photograph and who is holding the flags, I believe Andy Connor was the referee and Ian Hempel the Assistant. I've worked with both of them...

Over all a good performance from the officials but there was one debatable incident to comment on. The Sheerwater goalkeeper should have been sent off for shoving over the Guernsey player. I accept that the Guernsey player went in very firmly on the goalie and fully deserved his yellow card. But whether it is Combined Counties or Premier League football if you do that then you should be shown a straight red.

Something that tickled me during the game was when Sheerwater's big number 4 (aka BFG) went in solidly in a challenge and the ref was having a word with him. Someone shouted "don't be scared ref give him red!". It's classic moments like that which makes it so much fun to be a part of something so new and exciting in Guernsey football.

Sarnia that ? Was asked by your player to the ref and being sensible he kept both on the park, having asked the ref that ? After the game he said your player would have gone for the two footed lunge now that might have been interesting you down to ten at 0-0! but as Tony,s reaction warranted action he gave both yellows sensible I think, getting back to the game we lost two players to hammy injuries 1 after 5 minutes and the other after 35 plus you lost 1 through the same injury !!!! Pitch pretty good but full of sand underneath and could be a problem going forward. That said very good side which I don't think would look out of place a couple divs higher, at 3 zip your keeper pulled off the save of the game at his near post again that said don't think we would stopped guernsey running riot, good luck to them and everyone involved smashing people smashing club and smashing hospitality oh and really good officials

So far I have found the visiting officials to be way too lenient when dishing out cards for offences that are mandatory booking or sending offs.

There was as photo in the local newspaper (Guernsey Press) yesterday and it showed the challenge. From where I was sitting in the stand it looked firm and fair but it was there in black and white. Zico Black had his studs in the goalkeepers chest and he looked in some discomfort. I would have probably done more than just a push him in the heat of the moment! A good call from the ref there.

Might have changed the score mate, not sure about the result! In the end injurys to important players cost ourselves dearly and a good side like yours will take advantage of that.

As for my first thought that we are not fit enough I think I spoke to soon, key players on the day carrying injurys cost us the most well in the 2nd half anyway

Agree, what would have happened if the keeper had been sent off for Violent Conduct as I think he should have been? Thought he was your best player.

Don't disagree but if he dosnt react and yours is sent off which he would have been then different story, 0-0 at the time guernsey and would he have been our best player if your down to ten!
