Current Stadium situation?

If you intend to take a refusal of planning permission to appeal you have to have either a very strong nerve or very deep pockets. Having both helps enormously. While we at Horsham were advised that we had at least a 50 per cent chance of being successful were we to appeal against refusal of our application for an enclosed ground on our Holbrook site, we were also advised that we needed to have a contingency fund of up to £80,000 to cover the cost should our appeal be unsuccessful. Not many unfunded clubs at our level are in a position to take that sort of gamble however strongly they may have been advised that an appeal would be successful-usually by the same people who told them that they had a good chance with their original (unsuccessful) application.

I think the other potential problem alluded to in this thread is that, while unsuccessful objectors cannot appeal against a grant of planning permission, they can instead seek judicial review of the whole process-at best significantly delaying commencement and also potentially adding considerably to costs.
