I try to avoid posting directly after a defeat, as emotions are always clearly running high. So I've had a couple of days to think about it and, yes, we were poor. But to criticise CK is ludicrous. Despite what many of the rose-tinted brigade thought, to expect playoffs or better this year was very ambitious. When a new manager comes in, with several new players, and wants to impose his own way of playing, it naturally takes time to gel. An extreme example perhaps, but look at Manchester City. Millions of pounds spent and only now - after a few seasons - do they look like genuine title contenders (and even that might be up for debate).

We are a mid-table team; we will have some impressive wins (Met Police, Horsham), and we will suffer some disappointing defeats (Hendon, Tooting). This season is merely a springboard for future success, you'd like to think.

. £5000 at stake this saturday DR -that would help a bit-may even fund the midfield general we all recognise as essential on a 3 month loan from somewhere ?

frankly-i'd rather lose last saturday (and again on tuesday ) if it could guarantee a win saturday to secure the £5K

A couple of posts stating that any crticism of CK is completely unjustified.

Totally agree-albeit-i have no recollection of any posts actually critcising CK anyway.

The odd grumble about subs, team selection, colour of his socks-etc-but can't recall any actual criticism (yet ! )

I must confess to having enjoyed reading some of the posts on the dover forum recently. (sic)

That given-most of it was fairly unpleasant and probably unecessary stuff.

expectations again-however-Hayes had been there 15 months and one assumes a fair bit of money after their cup run last season.

Success just is not guaranteed however.

Happy to stroll along with our mid table mediocrity for another season or two-though i'd love to get to the 4Q round of FA cup this season.-no doubt i'll be brought back to earth on saturday

For my two penneth worth..I would like to add these comments

I have never supported the idea that players don't care and just turn up for the money, I have always believed and will always believe the players will put in a good effort on the day, and want to win. However some days our best is just not good enough.

I think the moans from fans are perhaps just more frustration, I know because I get quite verbal in my frustration. Losing is never good and I am always disappoint when I'm turf watching (this is the unexplainable drop of my heads and eyes as I see us throwing away a lead!!!)

But like most of you I can be very fickle, cursing a player for doing stupid things, and then suddenly they show that bit of magic which makes them the greatest Player in the world.

When we see balls up in the air what seems like 90 minutes of the game, it is frustrating, when we know when we play the ball along the ground and do simple things we look magnificent. Defenders always heading a ball way, sometimes seems to bring the pressure straight back, that is where the frustration comes in, chest it down, put a foot on it, play the ball out of trouble, build up a an attacking move, these are generally the frustration I feel. But importantly when we are winning the players can do what they like and they will be saluted as heros, but loose thats a different matter. Yes I do expect them to win every game, I do expect them to play top level football, and deep down don't we all, but yes we are only in The Ryman Premier League, but that won't stop us from getting frustrated.

Interesting observations about away games. You are right we don't moan or criticize the players away (well I don't seem to), but is this because we win away, we seem to play on the ground better.. Or is it just we concentrate all our efforts on the referee and linesman, and of course the opposition.

But as we all know each game is forgotten quickly, and the most important game is the next one, where ALL the fans will get behind the team again. By the way can I just remind you I do £20 on Margate winning the league at 50/1...My expectations are high for a reason!!!!

I was very disappointed after Saturday and told myself I wouldnt go on Tuesday, but its now Monday evening and guess what? looking forward to tomorrows game, and for a better performance, cant make Saturday, which could be a good omen as I couldnt get to the T & M FA Cup game, we do perhaps expect too much too soon, so for me its steady improvment, confidence in CK and better days ahead.

As I started this thread and perhaps was not in the right state of mind to have posted such a statement I would just like to apologise to anyone who feels I have slated/berated or chastised any single player by name or have wrongly put my feelings on the forum for other (MFC) fans to read. Disagree or wholeheartedly agree I have I hope just put my thoughts out there for everyone to see and no offence was meant.
