East Thurrock 1 - Billericay 2.

In the first half we suffered from poor refereeing and our poor mid field. East Thurrock were playing better than us and then took the lead with a doubtful penalty. We redeemed ourselves with a great finish by David Knight right on half time. Tajbakhsh and Edwards had ineffectual games. Tajbakhsh was replaced for the second half by Benson Kpaka and we got better control. On the hour mark Junior Luke was replaced by Harrison Chatting and then Rob Swaine took a knock and was replaced by CHRIS WILDE. A couple of minutes later Chris scored with a great header to the delight of himself, the team and all the travelling support. Basically we stayed on top for the rest of the match with just a scare in the last minute as a free kick on the edge of the area curled narrowly round the post.

TBH I didn't think we played that badly in the first half considering the ref's poor performance. East Thurrock didn't deserve their lead and thanks to the ref, they got one.

We did step up a notch in the second and deserved the three points but over the whole 90, there was only one team who was good enough to take those points...us.

Time for a conspiracy theory ^_^. Having watched Ryman football with the club for some considerable time I am now coming to the conclusion that the Ryman League (or should I say it's Chairman) really doesn't like us. We're constantly an after thought in their round up's (we twat Kingstonian 6 zip and all the comments are on the "King's" poor start), the match officials are dire to the point of a suggestion of favoring our opposition (this afternoon's has to rank (or is that w*nk) as the worst). I know when the said chairman of this league was a match official he didn't get the best of receptions at New Lodge (perhaps an indication of the standard of his decision making...) but come on...time to bury the hatchet mate...

On a more serious note, people are concerned about the falling attendances...perhaps they should look to the standard of officials because I'm sure people are getting sick and tired of watching a game of football officated by a bunch of total numpties and ruining the entertainment. The Ryman league is supporting the FA's Respect campaign...it'll be worth it if there was something to respect.

An excellent result for us today coming back from a goal behind to take the points battling against both the East Thurrock team and the one-eyed officials.

Knight's goal on the stroke of half time was crucial and once we got back level I always fancied us to go on and get the winner. I actually thought Semakula was probably our MoTM today, he seemed to be everywhere and kept going to the end although he could have done with more help.

I suppose it was written in the stars that Wildy would mark his comeback with the winning goal, it'll be interesting to see how we set up on Tuesday if our three excellent centre halves are all fit - Right back anyone?

Well done to the lads, a great result, keep it up!!

Just a mention for the incredible run by Adam Thompson from his own penalty box all the way through to the oppositions, unfortunately he could not quite reach the return of a one two that would have completed a fantastic goal. I thought he and James Hawes had excellent games at the back today.

A hard fought but well deserved win. It was a pity a rather harsh penalty stopped a fifth clean sheet in a row. I agree with Rod that the standout performances were Thompson and Hawes but what I like about this team is although they wasn't at their best they work so hard for each other. Knight's equaliser right on half time was crucial. I felt that in the 2nd half our midfield controlled the game and protected the back four very well and you couldn't have wrote that Wild would score the winner within minutes of his comeback. My only (minor) criticism would be that I'd like to have seen Harrison start.

I'm a little baffled that that onthesidelines has hardly waited for the whistle to blow to post such a negative post after a good away win.

Well done lads it's been an excellent start to the season keep it going !

Good result, poor ref. Tajbakhsh was replaced due to a nasty lump on his leg when he was fouled, which was not given, just before half time. I thought we were poor for the first 20 mins, as usual, before starting to control the game but it was all down to the ref. He made many mistakes over ruling the linesman when the lino was on the spot and he was miles away. Anyway we won and this is the main thing.
