Daventry (h) game

As we didn't play at all well, this was a game we would have lost last season!

A somewhat better performance in the second half, but still some issues I feel need addressing - players bickering among themselves instead of concentrating, and yet another booking for dissent.

Daventry are one of the better sides in this division and we were never going to have it all our own way but a win is a win and there is more steel to us this season... We weren't great but that is the problem with this league, we are a football team and won't get us much time on the ball as we would in the league above...

3 more points, and we march on!!!

Probably couldn't have complained if the game finished a draw, I don't think it was as bad as some people are making out. The important thing is that we took all the pressure and then went on to win the game. Thought Coyne was brilliant in midfield today. Second half I thought we edged it given those very good chances we created. Not our best game but not our worst by a long way.

Well done to the team for getting the points today, Daventry are much better than their league position suggests.

no team is ever going to play their best every single game

we have had good results and a few bad but we are sitting in a healthy position 3rd in the league only 2 points behind 1st though they have a game in hand still. considering we have not played our best on a number of occasions (including today) and picked up 3 points shows me the sign of a team very much capable of gaining automatic promotion

Daventry definitely look a decent side and yet we found a way to win. no team it looks like early on is going to have it all their own way. Wins like today make me believe that promotion is a definite possibility

Coyne fully deserved to be the match winner after his performance

the injury to Sincs and the fact that seemingly Murphy is suspended means next weeks FA Cup game lineup could be quite a change to what we have had the last few weeks

Perhaps, but there have been plenty of other occassions where he's played like that and didn't get any assists.

I too thought that the management got rather lucky regarding the substitutions. Personally I would have taken Sonner off for MPI, as Sonner for Abbey was merely exchanging Like with Like, when I felt that (not for the first time!) we were crying out for some physical prescence up front to counter 2 big centre-backs.

I also thought that the penalty, although it changed the game in our favour, was totally against the run of play.

However I agree that there does appear to be some steel in the side that was absent last season, and that can only be a good thing!

Agreed Marcus but today the Byrne option was not viable due to Sinclair's injury... And I would prefer wing backs but for some reason we won't play that way with Sweeney in the team, I can only assume Bateman doesn't trust him as the right sided centre back and let's face it, Sweeney won't be dropped for Brown!!!
