Flackwell Heath v Windsor - Who's going...

Don't Blame Me

Recommended Posts

And I haven't seen anyone look half-hearted.

I have seen some players lacking a bit of confidence right now - maybe those are the ones playing with knocks - if I am right in that then this is the time they deserve our support not accusations of a lack of effort.

In my opinion.

Geggy is spot on. Rother I think your perception of some us is very wrong. Some of us behind the goal have been going to football in Windsor just as long as Geggy and none of us think along the lines of "billy big [censored], I want and I want it NOW attitude". We don't care about the wage bill (None of our business) or whether we go up (Although it would be nice!) but we are bother about excuses made and what happens on the pitch. If the team doesn't do well or looks like they can't be bothered. They will be Critisized. If they play well look they want to win and still lose we won't mind andif they have brilliant game and win they will be praised beyound belief. Pretty much the same as billy big [censored] Team.

"Kevin Stott (effectively) said on many occasions in meetings that this season was about getting established and that whilst it would be great to see a successful team on the pitch in reality he would be happy to see us stay in the division and see the plans

for the future revenue generating initiatives take shape."

Apparently we haven't even got the permission from the crown for the 3G pitches at the moment. So future revenue generating is on hold for now unless you know any other revenue generating is going on? I thought the plan was to start building the pitches in October?

20 years or 3 years - who cares?

I have not seen anything amounting to a lack of effort and, not that I know any of them personally or consider it much / any of my business, I kinda resent the implication that what I perceive to be a bunch of honest hard-working decent blokes playing a game for not a lot of money, are perhaps not being entirely honest / professional in their approach to the game.

I just don't see that. The fact that they are being criticised at this relatively early stage, in my view unjustifiably, causes me to question why.

And it seems to me that that criticism is born out of unrealistic expectations, hence my observations earlier.

If I detected a lack of effort (rather than ability / cohesion) at this stage I would probably be saying similar things, but I don't.

I have to say yesterdays result didn't exactly come as a shock given some of the pre-match comments. The mood coming from the camp seemed to smack of pessimism before a ball had even been kicked. It sounded like people were trying to get their excuses in before the game. Fair play Flackwell are a good well organised side but come on they are Flackwell Heath not exactly Leamington or Brackley.

I know we have injuries but looking at the line-up yesterday, with the obvious exception of Ryan Ashe I’m not sure many of the injured players would have started anyway.

As for players playing out of position I don’t think anyone can say this was a unique situation as this has been happening all season. Even when everyone has been fit we have had people playing here there and everywhere.

I agree with one thing Geggy said about us lacking a leader on the pitch, one of the most impressive players for Flackwell was Mark Wheedon, he was not only a commanding figure but he marshaled their defence really well. This isn’t a slur on any of out current line up but we’re missing a Wheedon type character at the moment.

As for the perceived lack of effort some are claiming, I’m prepared to give the team the benefit of the doubt at the moment but considering most of our players have come from a higher level you have to say some of them are clearly underperforming. I’ll just say it was a disappointing performance and leave it there.

On the plus side the young lad who came on a half time looked like he has bags of potential….actually I’m struggling to think of anything else positive to be honest.

to be honest i cant see us going anywere at moment with a certain person in charge who no one wants in charge. and the one who everyone wants in charge is doing brillantly in higher league and lower budget and got a team playing good football .so just go to show people to make mistake in apointing people in charge so they should be big enough to own up to their mistake i love windsor with all my passion but at the moment im really disappointed so their my opinon like it or hate it lol :D

I agree with Matt, theres only so long the "we should be gratefull we have a team" will wash. Obviously we are gratefull for everything kevin and the others behind the scenes have done and I have not seen any critisism of them. Its the management and to some degree the players that some people aren't happy with.

Following on from Mrs Cat -Look at some of our squad for this season

Bully - Won the league above with Windsor and spent last season in the Southern Premier and Central league

Ryan P - Won the league above with Windsor, spent last season in the Southern Premier and Central Leagues and has played Conference South.

Dave T - Played all his football in the legaue above

Joe - Won the league above with Windsor. Spent the last few years in the league above

Ryan A - Played at the level above most of his career

Ben - Played at level above most of his career

Ryan OT - Scored lots of goals at the level above

Yash - Scored lots of goals at the level above.

So by my calculation thats 8 players that have been successfull at a level higher then we are currently in, and thats why expectations are high among some supporters.

So fair play to Keith for attracting these players to the club, but he and Jim now to need ensure they start perfoming.

I don't have a problem with high expectations per se, but although I'm sure the players and management will be the first to agree they are not playing to their potential yet, I just think it's a bit out of order to question their effort.

Apart from the recurring injuries that certainly haven't helped I'm sure it's down to a lack of confidence not bottle.

Have faith - it'll come.

I have to disagree Rother. We have seen the effort in previous games this season but most people could tell it wasn't there on Saturday apart from Joe Chandiram. I don't think it is out of order to question their effort. If people feel it's not there then they have the right to say so.

If we have so many injuries why are we not drafting in the youth players?

I am not saying it won't come but I was just not happy with Saturdays performance.

Having read the comments from Matt and Geggy, there is some sense in what they say.I was standing watching the lads warming up with Jim in front of the tea-bar and its didnt seem to me that they appeared confident before the game from thier expressions etc. When I looked across to the Flackwell lads warming up,there was banter and a bit of a laugh between them.I was thinking to myself then,we dont appear quite up for this.

When I saw the line-up on the board next to the tea-bar,it looked a strong enough side we had out and I must say,I also didnt know where the missing '8' players were supposed to be.Ben Porter I understood had a slight groin strain,Kemp and Jeffers have longer term injuries,Dont know where Dido was,Ryan Ashe was probably a tactical change?

Onto the game, and It was even I thought until the two mistakes.Bartlett was off after his injury waiting to come back on,then Gibson played a poor pass intercepted then played to the player who Bartlett would have picked up and we are 1-0 down. The second mistake being we failed to mark up two players at the far post, one of which headed the second.Game over at that stage especially when you play a side so well organised as Flackwell.

We rallied at times after the break and had a few chances which we all know,we have to start puttting away which is an issue in the side at the moment.

Someone mentioned players out of position, but Kyle looked comfortable in midfield, but Im afraid Chris Gibson has to improve.Thought the other youngster,Lee Galbraith had a decent game when he came on.

To be fair,Flackwell Heath are a big strong and well organised side and I can see why they top the Hellenic league and look to push on up a level, the type of side you cannot make the kind of mistakes we did and get away with it,that said,I wouldnt say they were that much better than us and its the level Keith is looking to get us.

Onto the Bucks & Berks cup tie,I would expect a few youngsters, but in all honesty would prefer us to keep the current squad gelling and play our strongest side.

I am not questioning the right to make those comments, I just don't think they are fair or valid.

Anyway, I think we've taken this as far as is reasonable - but this place does need a bit of livening up sometimes! ;)

See you tonight - onwards and upwards eh!!!?

I think Chris has pretty well summed up the match Saturday, especially the two errors that resulted in the first two goals. Anyway, as Rother says "onwards and upwards".

And just to remind everyone, I am switching the lights on tonight so dont beat me up if they fail again?!

The problem at any level of football that players can be mercanaries who pay for the packet more so than on the pitch. I know what the average salary is at Windsor and have to say its the highest probably along with Guildford, Camberley, Badshot Lea and Egham.

Personally, I think the CCL is a culture shock to the above mentioned players who have all played at a higher level and thought it would be easy pickings by getting well paid and not having to put it in when they should be, if not then why come down a level ?

Being honest, the players above probably didn't realise how difficult the CCL can be. You Windsor folk have to remember that unfortunately you still have the Windsor & Eton tag, still so every other club want to beat Windsor with a passion and see that as a sculp subsequently other players/clubs raise their game ! What seems to be the case is that the players who think it would be easy 'cos I've played higher attitude find it difficult to adapt, this is where the management come in and earn their worth !
