Guernsey v Sheerwater

Recommended Posts

Smudge did you not post at the start of the season that the top 6 in division 1 could beat anyone in the ccl premier? Guernsey dominated the horley game in my opinion, but gave away 3 soft goals, 2 to long throws. In open play they were superior, though it was a pre season friendly and so horley may not have had a good side. Seemed like a nice bunch though and I am pleased to see them doing so well this season.

Anyway the debate about whether Guernsey would do well in the ccl premier Will be settled somewhat depending on how their cup run goes!

Decent Cup runs in League Cups are usually a loss leader to Clubs,so with any sense you go out early.But in Guernsey's case,if you get home ties you will make a tidy profit.I have you down to win both Cups by the way,as well as the League,because I know a good thing when I see it.

Te ballboys behind the left hand goal were a total pain in the [****!!****] on Saturday. Second half there were 5 of them and all they did was pee about and not pay any attention. Other areas of the ground there were two, far better number. They were asked on a few occasions to sit down and watch the game. Bloody kids eh!

I thought this bunch were the worst we've had for behaviour. Having more than 2 in each place is a recipe for disaster.

They loose concentration too easily then.

Love to know how you work out there will be a profit. Recent report showed that guernsey is one of the most expensive places in the British isles for hotels for instance. In the unlikely event of any profit, it's not as if it's a PLC being run for the profit of the shareholders.

Plus, no income when playing away.

I suppose the guernsey crowd are getting bored of these easy win and probably can't wait for a close game! Dunno if your get one at home!
it's great to see loads of goals but it will be brilliant to see a close hard fought game.maybe bedfont sports or staines lammas will give us a stern test ?

Come on GD, you were there Saturday, your fans won't see a hard fought game at home, it was unplayable. Ohh and looking at the league bulletin it was 4 goals in 6 minutes.

I'm called cocky if I say something like you have just said ! Lol so I'm keeping my gob shut !

Love a team that has a mascot,something that a young child will never forget.I used to organise them at Croydon Athletic many years ago,meet the players,warm up on the pitch,shake hands with the Officials,go into the dressing Room pre match.Treated to a burger and coke at H/T,and post match,took a jug round the dressing room for Players to donate to the MascotNever got less than £25.Acheived this at Woking,Aldershot,in front of Thousands of Supporters.The cost to the Mascot,nothing.Creates a buzz amongst the younger fans.A nice touch also would be if Guernsey and the Teams they were playing presented each other with a Pennant,to mark the occassion.Because in years to come,they maybe plying their trade higher up the Football Pyramid.

Ticket sales surely! £5,000 + per home game, surely you realise that's what he means by maknig a tidy profit playing at home

But that makes no allowances for expenses!

Flights must be at least £100pp, hotel on B&B say £50pp, plus food, hire of a coach for four trips, cost of hiring the ground, cost of security by local security company. Plus no income when away from home. Cant see much profit in that.

750 x £5 = £3750

700 x £4 = £2800

Total = £6550

22 x £200 = £4400 for other teams expenses

Balance = £2150

Ground Hire £250

Security £500

Coach £200

Food £200

Total £1150

£2150

-1150= £1000 plus profits from programmes,Teas,memorabilia,oh and the £100 the mascots parents have to pay.a PROFIT IN MY BOOK.

probably splitting hairs, but the stand only holds 720 and quite a number are given out to sponsors and guests inc. the visiting side. Plus most are season ticket holders so paying less than that per game.

Ground hire is quite a bit more than that, so I am led to believe. Coach hire is going to be higher than that, Guernsey is blumin expensive for things like that.

But you dont make any allowance for the cost of bring over the officals, plus you fail to mention all any perceived profit goes every time they play away.

Good points,but maybe balanced by the cost of accomodating the away side,surely deals have been struck with Aurigny and Le Roquettes to get a fair discount.Are they not Guernsey Sponsors.Over here Stewards are normally volunteers,and Police you have to pay for.

The other thing also,is that season tickets over here only cover the cost of League games,Cup games are extra.

Maybe GFC should get some of the bar takings from the clubs in town, would have made a profit at the weekend without a doubt. ;)

I think the fact GFC has a deal/agreement with Aurigny as travel sponsors that flights will amount to less than £100pp so that would take some of the cost there. GFC shouldn't have to cover meals as it's up to the opposing team when and where they eat. sandwiches and nibbles after the game wouldn't exactly be much in the grander scheme of things.

Away cup games obviously different but you're probably looking at a profit for home games unless the fans stop coming, but I would imagine cup wouldbe more popular as they are one off games and could be drawn against higher level opposition so tighter games
