Guernsey v Sheerwater

Recommended Posts

Sheerwater did well in the first half to contain guernsey, but as already said there was no way they could keep that up. Thought the number 4 had a good game and their keeper was also good and made some great saves. But guernsey could have easily had 14 or 15 goals. One day guernsey are really going to click for 90 mins and get a large double figure score.

Was a lovely touch for the sheerwater player to go across and shake Ross allen hand, showed what good people sheerwater are.

Hope the sheerwater people had a great trip over, no doubt a few beers tonight will ease the pain a little.

And for all this talk of guernsey being suspect at the back? Over 500 minutes since conceded!

Guernsey are the Bee's Knees for sure, the fittest squad I have seen for years.I do question the opposing teams strategy sometimes,in the games I have seen, trying to outplay them will never work.bUT WHO AM i WITH NO MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE TO QUESTION THERE JUDGEMENT.

Indeed it was an impressive second half.

Guernsey didn't appear to be at their best first half though in fairness to Sheerwater they defender very well and didn't give Guernsey too many clear chances.

Second half Guernsey pushed hard and the 3 goals in 10 minutes (i think it was about that if not less) made the game a formality. Some lovely stuff down the right wing where i was stood, great communication between players leetin each other know where they were for the cut back etc and created many many chances.

Was quite amazed at the end though at how brutal Guernsey were, not content with 9-0 they seemed so desperate for a 10th it was like watching man utd drawing 1-1 with stoke in the final 10 minutes! I suppose it's a milestone to hit when your winning comfortably though and shouldn't be taken as mocking the opposition. Having played a lot of much lesser quality football myself i know the feeling both winning and losing by double figures.

Loved the announcer today:

After a clear offside goal (at least 2if not 3 offside) that was given as such in the first half he announced 1-0 GFC amd the scorer!

Towards the end after giving Dom Heaume MOM he missed a sitter (for 10-0) and he quickly piped up "change of mind on that man of the match!" totally unprofessional but very funny and just what many in the crowd were thinking (tounge in cheek of course!)

Good Crowd, lovely weather, great result and and a fine performance.

Was good to spot the Sheerwater lads in the pub later on as well...makes it a shame we dont have a club house bar as well, something we should sort out seeing as come 5:45 they're a couple of miles away in a town pub.

shame you got a few seconds before and after the keeper's push on our player masie!

silly thing to do from their lad.

For those not there, the ball was loose on edge of 6 yard box and as you see often the striker went in for the ball, keeper gets it first and our player probably clipped the keeper, the ball was there to be won and bar it being a foul there was nothing wrong.

keeper got up went over to the GFC player and pushed him over.

A bit unneccesary but i think the ref did the right thing in just booking him while i did hear someone shouting "you bottled it ref". i've seen reds given (on tv) for this kind of thing but would have been a bit harsh.

He made some great saves in the second half by the way, very quick reactions to palm a few away

spotted myself in one picture!

i don't know if we'll see double figures, while sheerwater defended well first half their early season record suggests they're generally leaky at the back. I don't know if there's other teams that struggle more defending but I wouldn't esitmate any more goals than that in a game.

Could somebody clarify if Sheerwarer's keeper was the same fella who played in goal when Knaphill played here (Guernsey). It certainly looked like him! If it was, I'm sure he won't want to visit again, the poor chap has shipped 14 goals in 2 matches. And played well in both games.

I was very proud of the Guernsey Lions today but I thought the 9-0 scoreline flattered us. The tactics Sheerwater employed in the first half an hour (pressure us on the ball and make it scrappy and open) worked a treat but we all knew that they couldn't keep up that kind of tempo. They didn't create too many opportunities and when they tired Guernsey took control. I thought the Sheerwater centre backs had a cracking game though, especially their big number 4. He was magnificent throughout and the score would have been much more if it wasn't for him. He can feel very proud of himself tonight and he would be a major asset to us in our squad. Fancy moving to Guernsey mate? :)

The attacking play from Guernsey was quite astounding though at times though and there were a few cracking memorable goals and another hat-trick from Ross Allen. The man is a goal machine. The pace and fitness levels that we display are truly awesome and the poor Sheerwater team were shattered at the end.

A cracking game and another 1400 plus crowd. Come on you Lions!!!!!

I thought we were well worth our 9-0 win. Our attacking play was out of this world at times. We missed a pen and we missed a shed load of chances as well. A truly awesome display by our lads today

Nice pics. I spotted Young Veteran in one.

I hoped I'd get him in a pic, hope he will tag himself then.

I also met Guernsey Donkey today, he only sits in the row behind me and a couple of seats along, small world.

it was great to meet you maisie (is that your first name?). I'm sure you would admit I'm a nice guy really :)

Someone said before the game that the keeper had already played out there so I guess it was him!

I can confirm Tony Davis played in goal for Knaphill and was transferred back to Sheerwater after leaving at the end of last season and played in goal yesterday.
