London Senior Cup.

Last evening Croydon visited Erith and Belverdere to play a Cup Tie at Parkview Rd,where they groundshare with Welling Utd.After drawing 1-1in a tense affair, the Teams were ready for extra time, when the lights failed, and after 15 mins the game was abandoned.I did ask the excellent Referee if the game could go to a Penalty shoot out,as one end of the ground still had good working lights. Not allowed in the rules was the reply. It later transpired that because 90mins had been played, under London F.A. rules, that the game will now be played at Croydon. The cost of putting the game on £350 to the Club, which in economic hard times,is hard to recover. Some parts of me wishes we had not scored that late equaliser,as it was not Croydons fault that the lights failed, but with dwindling crowds they have now.Heard a bit of information last night that Hanworth Villa were deducted 3 points they gained against Croydon,on the opening day of the season. The reason why was not given to me,but it was Hanworth who informed the League of a breach.

Smudge, I believe the game has now been re-scheduled for 11th October at Erith & Belvedere / Welling United. Please bring coins for the meter if necessary! :)

I agree that if floodlights at one end of the ground were still working, it would have been common sense to have a penalty shootout, but I can understand why that scenario isn't in the London FA rulebook!
