Hanwell Town 2 v Colney Heath 3  B.O'Brien and K.Powell got Hanwell's goal's tonite. C.Baverstock and M.Watson were our best players tonite.

The Hanwell Town squad is not good enough its as simple as that. We need K.Jimmy back in goal quick and we need some new defenders and midfielders and some height in our team or we will be very lucky not to finish in the bottom 6 at the end of this season. :(

Tonight I will be taking on the role of 'crowd' at Tokyngton v Cranfield.

Were there really 41 there?

yep mainly cranfield - well deserved result should have been coasting at half time, Toykington showed a little more 2nd half but we well deserved the win. Get in

I counted 16 in the stand and there were about 10 people behind the goal wearing football kit. To get to 41 you would need to include the people on both benches!

Of the "41" I have no idea what the number of people paying admission would be. The Tokyngton official only appeared after the game started and I had to hunt him down in the clubhouse to pay admission and buy a programme - it is entirely possible that the nights gate receipts were my £5.00.

FA Cup First Qualifying Round Replays

0-3 Berkhamsted v St Albans City

A report on this one from another's Forum:

Berkhamsted 0-3 St Albans City

FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round replay, admission £5, programme £1.50, coffee and Mars £1.20, att: 306 (announced as being a record attendance for the ground!)

There doesn't appear to be much parking at this ground and I made the mistake of parking in the squash club next door with a barrier. I'm not comfortable with parking in car parks that can be closed and it was a good move to ask as this was for members only! I didn't fancy a night sleeping next to the neighbouring canal. Just a little further down the road is an ample public car park which is free in the evening. I recommend doing this ground by train as it's right next to the station and Berkhamsted does look like a very pleasant place to spend some time.

Cover behind both goals and a seated stand on the near side, not enough cover though for this game to keep us dry as the game was played in steady rain throughout. St Albans made easy work of "Berko" and should have won more comfortably. Entertaining game which fizzled out once it was 0-3.

On the way home I encountered some bizarre roundabout set up in Hemel Hempstead, what a mess that is, it makes Swindon's magic roundabout not worthy of it's name. Also, when I was on the M1, a Mercedes convertible came past with roof down, not sure why you would have your roof down in the dark when it's pouring down?

Enjoyable evening

Tuesday 20 September

Division One

0-1 Chesham United Reserves v Buckingham Athletic

A report on this one from another's Forum:

SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION 1

Chesham United Reserves 0-1 Buckingham Athletic

Admission £4.00 Programme £1.00 2x frothy coffee £2.60 Chips (see below) £1.50

Attendance 72

A close game played in what started as heavy drizzle turning into more general rain. Luckily there is cover on all four sides, even if the angle of the rain didn't always make it 100% effective.

A rather inauspicious start to the evening's proceedings as I was treated to CHAV FM being broadcast around the ground. In addition, I'd seen elsewhere that the club do have a preponderance of chavs and to be honest, there were a few likely lads hanging about. However, there was no trouble and I was pleasantly surprised at how well behaved they were, especially the well-spoken young lad in the green hoodie.

With regard to the chips, the mobile food caravan doesn't turn up for the reserve games, so food had to be ordered from the kitchen in the clubhouse. Having placed an advance order, it was a bit unnerving to have "[my real name], your chips are ready" broadcast over the PA system five minutes before half-time To be fair, they were very nice and the cheeseburgers looked quite tasty, so I'll have to budget for those if I return.
