Banbury game

1-1 h/t.

Sonner header from a nothing throw-on for the equaliser. Banbury clearly sharper and fitter, but we've had chances, we're hanging in there and are still well in it. 2nd half could be interesting!

I missed Sonner's equaliserc so no video of that I'm afraid.

Well that was fun!! Under pressure for a lot of the first half against a team who you could see were at a higher level. We had our chances however - Sincs fired wide and Danny Burnell missed before Sean's superb equaliser. A floated cross in behind the Banbury defence was met by Sonner hanging in the air as he does and flicking the ball past the keeper who was coming out to claim the ball.

In the second half we were fantastic. We deservedly took the lead although Sincs' lob over the keeper looked like a mis-hit sliced cross to me! Sorry Sincs if you really did mean it! After that we were awarded a generous penalty for holding in the box which Burnell struck against the post. Banbury were spurred on by that miss and came back into it without really troubling Warrington. Ben Abbey sealed it with a breakaway goal, feinting to go to the keepers left and taking it round him the other way before rolling it in.

Banbury will point to some generous refereeing in the second half and to an extent I agree. However, there were three occasions in the first half where Slough players were clattered from behind without any yellow cards shown so what goes around comes around in terms of refereeing fortune.

Well done Rebels - a superb performance.

Pretty much agree with Ian's comments. It proves this side can live with the next level. All we've got to do is get there!

It really makes a change to go a club where there's a half decent crowd, so many of our league opposition barely have any supporters.

Good luck to Banbury, the ground upgrades should improve the spectator experience, hopefully next season we'lll be able to see them when we visit in the league.

I thought Banbury looked quite classy in the first half and when they scored in the 36th minute I feared the worst. However, Sean Sonner scored at just the right moment for us to go in level at half time and take enough confidence from finishing the first half well to take control of the second half.

We played so well in the second half that we reduced Banbury to taking shots from long range - which was definitely not their forte.

A great team performance, but MOM for me was Sean Sonner as he always works his socks off and his heading still keeps improving.

First half we should have had a couple of goals through Sincs and Burnell but Banbury probably edged it on overall play.

Second half we came out and dominated from start to finish thoroughly deserving the 3-1 scoreline.

Well done and a great performance from the team!!!!

Their web site /forum ..reckon we only took about 50 supporters ! guess they cant count either ..

They reckon we came in one taxi !

Many of our supporters don't wear colours and don't just stand behind the goal ...

Looking at all the members and supporters I know ..we had nearer a 100 !

not bad for a Team in the central divison ..where some teams don't get that for a home game let alone

taking this many to an away game ...

Well the crowd was 60 above their average so they must believe they attracted an extra 60 Banbury fans for a game against a team from a lower division!!

I can't say that's a ground I'd rush back to if we were lucky enough to gain promotion this year.

Fantastic day out. I love the FA Cup. We battered them in the second half and our five fans that squeezed into that taxi made a lot of noise in their closing down sale ground. Still, it was good to have some opposition fans singing away and abusing us for a change! A very happy chairman and manager after the game - we are good enough for the Premier, just need to get out of this bloody league!

The sad thing for the Banbury team was the way their supporters left while the game was still going, their team deserve better than that.

A few years ago when we were getting beat six nil in nearly every game I dont remember us ever doing that.

Anyway well done to our team absolutely brilliant a great day and a great taxi ride home.

Sue not Aidan he is at work as usual

An impressive performnce from Slough, and a great result.

Wonderfully biased home fans, who disagreed vehemently with every decision that went against them, but still seemed friendly. Tough first half, and Banbury's being a league higher was underlined by their first touch being much quicker and more accurate than ours, and rarely did they waste a set piece kick. Banbury had the first half possession, yet we still had the clearer chances. The Sonner goal before half time was probably crucial in terms of our confidence.

Different game second half, with Slough running the show. Could easily have been 4 or 5 -1, and it was not a case of Banbury playing badly either. We were really very impressive.

Spoke to a Banbury fan on the way out. It seems that the ref was spat on, and possibly assaulted on the way off the pitch, by one of a group of youths.

Banbury announcer nearly as good as Roy. £3000 better off which can only help. Bring on the next round.
