Hornchurch for much of the first half enjoyed the territorial play over the more experienced Billericay side, and could have taken the lead with shots from Cameron St Prix-Mitchell and Les Thompson, both of which were saved by Jack Avery. The visiting defence were worried by some long throws by Simon Sutton, but took the lead on thirty minutes when GRANT EAGLES gained possession on the right wing, moved sharply inside and fired in a shot from the edge of the area. Hornchurch went close to equalising at the other end shortly afterwards, with a shot from Billy Pearce, but Billericay went further ahead when a high ball was played into the goalmouth and keeper Sid Miller was unable to hold the ball, which bobbled loose for BILY RADLEY to place firmly into the net.

Almost on half time Hornchurch pulled a goal back when CAMERON ST PRIX-MITCHELL scored with an excellent solo goal, his run culminating in a fine shot from outside the area. Les Thompson twice went close to levelling the score, but on each occasion Jack Avery saved, whilst at the other end a shot hit the post before rolling across the goal line before being cleared by Donny Bernard.

The third goal was a long range shot from BRODIE HOME which Sid Miller could not hold and the ball squirmed underneath the keeper and trickled slowly into the net. Lew Moore almost found a way through from the left, and another long throw by Simon Sutton caused some consternation in the visiting defence, before Les Thompson weaved through but was thwarted by Jack Avery once again.
